They're crude and clunky, I'll give you that. But they aren't terrible rifles.

Now, a Mauser or Enfield is a better rifle for the price, but it's your own fault if you took /k/ memes to heart. Especially since they've been outdated memes for almost five years now.

Salty newfag that didn't get one when they were cheap. They're fun guns. They don't weigh any more than a Mauser (k98k's are 8.2-9lbs, mosin is 7.5-9). Clunkiness is subjective, they're not as refined as a mauser but work perfectly fine.

I have a mauser (Swedish M38) too. It has a better trigger and construction feels less rushed, but it's not really fair to compare a 1942 nugget to a 1942 mauser because the soviets had to produce significantly more and were under pressure from losing territory.

1903 or m1917 both are getting crazy expensive and I'll probably only be getting on or the other.

This. Great thread and opinion op. I will buy a Mauser all day over a mosin nigger.

The weight issue though is a none issue. In fact an m44 nigger feels great compared to a Yugo 24/47. However I like my Yugo because it's stripper clips function night and day better. A Mauser action is smooth. A mosin nigger action is a bit annoying. I'm no manlet but there's no need for that action to be bad.

Plus there's more to help me if I decide to use my Yugo receiver and rechaimber it into something cool. A Mauser in 300 rum is something I've done a few times.

The bolt on my hex 91/30 is pretty smooth.

Compared to my Yugo Mauser though, it requires a bit more force to open after pulling the trigger.

Sesty M91s were no longer made after the Russian Revolution. They were switched to making machine guns only. An M39 built on a Sesty receiver is pretty rare, since that would have been a captured M91 upgraded to an M39. May have even been given to the Finns by the Germans like my Sesty M91 was.

I've never seen a decent mauser(Czech or otherwise) that won't blow up on the first shot glock style for less than 1k. The best milsurp is a yugo sks.
