Was Army Infantry before DADT repeal. Everyone knew the gay dudes, and all but the most hardcore bigots were fine with it. The kinds of deep south guys who also had a problem with blacks and brown dudes. Most everyone else was fine with it. Infantry is infantry, they're your bro.

If you're a valuable part of the team you will be respected, if not you'll be promoted anyway because gay. Navy is so ultra pro homo it's the best thing a person can do for their career. I was Army in a transportation unit, I didn't know of any gay dudes but we had tons and tons of lesbians. They actually did their job, it was the straight women who were completely worthless.

Gayest branch I've seen is Airforce, I used to get hut on by a bunch of gay Air Force guys at my old gym, it was weird as fuck.
