Yeah, state DNR range. I mainly go when I have a bunch to zero at 100 or 50 (or can reasonably work out a zero from those distances) since I don't have a membership elsewhere. Not bad for the surplus guns, just avoid it during the pre-hunting times. Winter is actually great, fucking no one.

Yeah all state owned ranges limit 3 rounds a mag for rifles and 7-9 for pistols, don't quote me on that because I don't go to public ranges anymore.

Could use some advice from you fellows. I have a gun and an LTC, but I don't yet have a place to practice. The options I have in my area are:

1.) A state range, which is cheap and not that far away but has the aforementioned stupid rules.
2.) One or two local clubs, which have a waiting list, require referral from existing members, and generally seem like a pain to join.
3.) Ranges attached to some of the local gun stores, which seem like a ripoff in that all of them have both a yearly fee and per-half-hour fee on top of that.

Which of these less-than-ideal options is the best? Is there anything I'm overlooking?

Pretty new to guns. All I have is a basic bitch 19 and a Browning Hi Power. Hopefully over the next year that will change. Live in Philly but also have a hunting cabin up in the Poconos on 8 acres I use for shooting and /out/ stuff.

Hate to say this but i'm researching a move to North Idaho. Two big things are whats driving my decision. First and biggest reason is all the fed land to /k/ and /out/ on out west. I flew out to Coeur d'Alene Idaho on a work trip a few years back. Not only was the landscape perfect (lush forests, rivers, mountains) but you could enjoy it thanks to all the public land. A guy who worked at the facility I flew out to train was into such things and after a little bullshitting he asked me to go on a hike with him. I had 2 extra days to kill anyways since the training took way less then scheduled. We did a camp trip and it was amazing. Plus I had his 22 rifle on my back, the guy at random would call out shots for me to take. That was life changing. If you did that in PA the the state guard would be after you. Even in Allegheny National Forest you have a billion asterisk on firearm use. Outside of the park you see a ton of posted no trespassing signs. So all your stuck with is super high use pleb trails.

Second reason is PA is changing. Not today, not tomrrow but at some point Philly is going to be able to run rough shot over the rest of the state. Once Philly can swing state wide elections on it's own PA will go as anti gun as NY. While this may be even 10 years away i'm about to start a family and don't want to move while they are in school.

Last point, even though I'm born and raised in Philly I can say Sheetz is a million times better then Wawa.
