What 1-4 optic do you use, /k/? I'm in the market for one to put on my 16" AR and can't decide.

Budget is $1,500 for the optic with pic related being the front runner
>>
that exact one but with a bdc reticle.

i love the thing. super duper clear. the illumination isn't quite noticeable on sunny days though.

got a bangin deal on mine and it was worth every shekel.
>>
For a 1-4 you want a reticle like the Primary Arms ACSS or similar. Mildot reticles are typically for long range uses and first focal plane scopes. I'd do an ACOG/RMR, Razor Gen ii 1-6, or accupoint.

vortex strike eagle and spend the rest on other shit
I'm a trijicon dealer and I don't even like their stuff.

accupoint/accupower when very close to 1x and illumination is important to you.

t. accupoint owner
>>
>>32239181
Ever have an issue with loads not matching the BDC?

>>32239186
Checked out the Acog/RMR combo but the eye relief killed it for me. Guessing you prefer the trianglr reticle for the Accupoint?

>>32239187
What don't you like about them?
>>
>>32239120
You cannot beat the burris mtac/tac30 desu, the leupold 1-6 is alright as well, but the mtac is the king.

I looked at a few 1-6 optics including the Leupold MK6 but I felt like it took longer to get in the eye box sweet spot compared to a 1-4. That ever been an issue?
>>
Just chill and wait a bit. Vortex is coming out with the Gen ii pst which will be in 1 - 6. Mrs will be 999 so probably around 600. Gonna be a great scope.

Question, I just got into muzzleloaders and I bought a CVA Optima V2, Struggling to pick an optic for it some people told me to do the Nikon XR but im not sold on it. Any recommendations?

Vortex Crossfire 2-7 for >muh warranty

leupold 2-7 shotgun reticle if you want to spend a little more. Plus the FireDot helps in low light.
>>
>>32239767
This. Shit, they also have a 1-8 for about 400, and a 1-8 FFP scope for about a thousand. Really fucking good quality. If you've never tried the ACSS reticle, it's ridiculously nice and fast. That being said, it works best on 20-inch barrels for 5.56, if that's any consideration for you.
>>
For Trijiconfags

I am looking to get Accupoint 2.5-12.5

Leaning toward triangle. Should I do that? My max target/steel/paper
range is 640 yards. Max hunting range of about 300 yards that I am comfortable with. Will be on a T3X CTR 6.5 Creedmoor.

tritium illumination helps quite a bit, no need to fuck with batteries which is what sold me on it.

can send it back to Trijicon in 10-15 years and they will either repair under warranty or tell me i need to pay to have it re-charged, will probably have to pay as I bought it secondhand.

I also live in a rural area, the Tritium backlighting to the fiber optic is pretty fuggin good in perfect darkness desu.

Definitely usable with a light, get glowing triangle on target, flip light on. And the glass is good enough that everything isn't too dark to see in early morning.

For pure observation higher magnification is kind of a must.

almost forgot, inside there are spots of illumination rather than a more consistent ambient, so it's possible you will be shooting toward a brighter area and the triangle won't be as bright, but that's why there is a black post (and underneath the green triangle is a black triangle) so you will still have a precision aiming point even without the illumination.

Basically it's inconsistent indoors, a battery setup would fix that but it wasn't worth it to me, shitty battery life and having to remember to turn the fucking thing on before confronting a thief or home invader just isn't in the cards for me.
>>
>>32240687
Do you ever wish you had more features with the reticle? I'd like the triangle reticle but the BDC on the Accupower seems like it'd have more uses

Mainly trying to replace the Aimpoint T2 I have on my rifle so less features may not be too bad
>>
>>32240761
No I don't do super long range stuff like that, I only have a backstop set up at 200 meters and it's flatland here in southern Indiana.

6x would be nice to have for sure, can't imagine why not, but I don't really need that magnification for sport shooting in my area.

they say 1x is good for 100 yards/meters, presumably on man-sized targets, not bullseye shooting.

If you want to try shooting for groups at 400 meters you will likely want more than 4x or 6x for sure.

I've seen some deals on gun broker and other sites for VCOGs around 1400. Might be worth looking into.
>>
>>32239120
Dont get a trijicon, they arent feasible indoors. Not enough tritium

Get a US Optics.
>>
i've been debating between the SWFA SS 1-6x24 and the Vortex Razor Gen II HD 1-6x24. thoughts from somebody who's tried both? how do they compare at 1x in speed? 6x in usability of drops? i'm concerned about the Vortex's thin reticule and small dot.
>>
>>32240954
Not true 1x and it isn't an etched reticle so I'm fucked with my astigmatism

I've been looking for an optic for both moose hunting and 3 gun. I have not yet decided between razor hd 1-6x and trijicon tr-25 1-6x. What does /k/ recommend? The specs are about the same but the vortex is 5oz heavier.
>>
>>32239181
why would you choose bdc over milrad ever?
>>
>>32241401
Because the ability quickly engaging a target with the segmented circle on the BDC is more reasonable and pertinent than bench shooting when it comes to a 1-4 optic.
>>
>>32240759
Consider a Leupold VX-R or VX-6 then. Auto-turnoff after 5 minutes and immediate auto-turn on when moved means you can leave it on and have the battery last ages.
>>
>>32241424
why is that so? Why is milrad relegated to bench shooting?

I'd rather have an optic that's applicable to multiple loads, calibers, barrel lengths, and ranges and I can range on the fly.

You can get a milrad reticle with multiple styles of subtension markers if hte dots are your issue
>>
If the milrad optic had something like the segmented circle featured on the Accupower then it'd be easier to put rounds on target compared to a basic crosshair
>>
>>32241482
this one? There are many options that can incorporate something like this. SWFA Have several in their 1x4s and 1x6s

Unless it's varmint/target (F class), I don't use a scope.
