War survival protips, as found on a forum, somewhere far far away...

Feedback welcome, .webm is BMPT advertising, displaying "well designed" propellant gas directing.

>War in general is uncomfortable but the worst thing in it is clearing urban areas from the enemy
>1. In clearing operations you must act like the joke: Always enter the room together - first the grenade, then you.
>2. Don't even enter an open office door. If your gut feels like there might be an enemy, don't spare your grenades.
>Pull out the pin and roll the first one in. 5 seconds after the explosion, roll in a second one, with the pin attached and immediately afterwards enter yourself.
>Who survived the first explosion took a cover position seeing the second. Capture him alive.
>3. When standing at a door, waiting for your friends preparing to enter: Hold the door shut so it can't be opened. Or else you will see a grenade or gunbarrel in the hallway.
>4. Roll the grenade along the room floor, don't throw it.
>5. Don't run in front of your friends gun barrel, you prevent him from shooting.
>6. Every closed door is UNTOUCHABLE, because it may be mined.
>7. Don't open crates, don't switch electronic devices. Don't touch anything, everything may be mined. This is important. Don't open the fridge door, even if you are starving.
>Don't open the toilet seat. Don't adjust a titled picture on the wall.
>8. Don't move dead bodies, tables or other items. Everything can be mined.
>9. After hearing the first shot - get down and do not fumble around.
>10. Keep your finger off the trigger. This often kills friends.
>11. Don't use ammo from captured supplies, instead of gunpowder they may contain explosive.
>12. Wear grenades in special bags, not open. There have been cases of the pin getting hooked behind something.
>13. It is pointless to waste RPGs on people. It's for armor.
>14. Don't tape your magazines. It will fuck up the feed and you will throw away both.
>>
>15. There are three positions to the AK safety switch - Safe, Auto and Semi.
>When releasing it in panic, you will likely set it to semi. This is a design feature, so that a scared soldier would not spend his ammo in a second. Remember this.
>16. AK safety clicks loudly. If you need to release it quietly, pull it away from the receiver and smoothly set to the desired position (which is almost always semi).
>17. When moving to a combat zone, jump on the spot and confirm that nothing rattles. Loose belts and buckles can be attached with tape. Round in the chamber and safety on.
>18. Memorize the ballistic tables of your weapon. A bullet DOES NOT FLY STRAIGHT. Knowing how to estimate distance and knowing the ballistic characteristics allows to hit targets faster.
>This means you will be under fire less.
>19. Wind affects your firing. Learn the effects of wind on your weapon before and not on the go, by guessing.
>20. If you can choose a weapon, take the same caliber as most of your friends. You can't carry along a lot of ammo but it will end fast, especially in urban combat.
>If you can share ammo, it is a big plus. If your friend has fallen, don't be ashamed to take his equipment (after asking permission from the commander).
>21. If you are going to act on your own, take 360 bullets or 12 magazines. The same amount in your backpack in cartons. This saves weight.
>22. Remember that magazines on the chest and stomach are additional armor.
>23. Most deaths and wounds are caused by fragments. A thick jacket will cover you quite well from small fragments.
>If ontop is a combat vest with magazines, you can consider yourself quite well protected. Don't forget to raise your collar.
>24. An armored vest is good. Any kind of vest. Even a heavily used one.
>>
>25. If your body armor stopped a bullet, it does not mean the end. Energy from the impact can create horrible damage behind the armor.
>Ribs are broken almost always but ripping of internal organs is also common. Thus, when there is no hole, it is early to cheer.
>In fact, some times a hole is preferrable.
>26. Don't touch grenade launchers, they are complicated to operate, leave it to experienced friends.
>27. If you have spent some time in clean air, you will discover a smoker from 70 to 100 meters. Stop smoking.
>28. If you heard something, stop the group and stay quiet. Listen carefully. Even if you stop the group every 5 minutes, only exceptional retards will complain.
>29. When stopping, never stand. Crouch or go prone. It is tiring, but survival is in question. If anyone does not want to, force him.
>30. You don't hold a finger on the trigger even if the safety is on.
>31. On march, hold the gun on crossed arms. It is easy to bear and you can go into action fast.
>32. A gun sling should be around the neck. Or else, when ambushed - After a mine explosion ou will fly in one direction and the gun in the other direction, making you from an easy WIA to a KIA.
>33. Don't sleep on watch. If you fall asleep, not only the enemy will want to kill you. For that, in addition to losing your weapon used to result in death by official firing squad. Nowadays, by nonofficial.
>34. You can piss while crouching, to be a smaller target. It is a serious matter. On a prepared perimeter, there is no issue but on the march, you go to relieve yourself in groups of three.
>One man shits, the other two cover the perimeter in 180 degree slices. Many have been found dead with a bare ass and in their own shit.
>35. Sneeze only on yourself.
>>
>36. Who runs slow, dies fast.
>37. The effectiveness of grenades is overrated. There have been crases where a grenade explosion in a small room caused only minor injuries.
>38. Don't pull the grenade pin with teeth. Only fingers.
>39. Walls may have covered passages. With them, the enemy can quickly move between stairways. Remeber that.
>If you are in one apartment it does not mean that it is impossible to enter from the neighbouring apartment, for example through the wall.
>40. Wire fences and nets can be set to cover windows. They stop rifle grenades well.
>41. You can hear sad meowing from a cupboard. Very sad feeling about the animal, but it is probably locked in there with a grenade. You can't open the door. This is a very complicated moment - you want to stay a kind person but...
>42. If you need to shoot outside, don't stand next to the window. Go into the depths of the room, stand on a stool or hide behind a wall. Don't turn on the lights.
>43. Pieces of bricks or concrete have a tendency to fly directly into your eyes.
>44. Shooting long from the same position is a bad idea.
>45. Stay hunched.

>46. Don't look for sniper positions. It is not your task and you don't have enough knowledge for it. Keep fighting without giving them attention.
>47. Pre morally prepared to "process" civilians who discovered you. If this possibility does not entertain you, be more careful and stay in cover.
>48. AK-74 with a night sight mount can fit a PSO from a SVD. Up to 500-600m, SVD and AK-47 follow the same trajectory, the sight fits perfectly.
>You can shoot and aim much faster than with a SVD. And you will not interest those looking for snipers.
>49. Modern grenades explode primarily from the shock of bouncing against something. Delayed activation comes from falling somewhere soft like snow.
>50. Even sappers don't dissasemble explosive devices. They blow them up with a charge. Don't be a wiseass and try to dissasemble booby traps.
>51. Normal soldiers put special traps on tripwires to prevent them being cut or removed. Thus "cutting the wire" is a stupid idea. Just go around, disarmament is the task of other specialists.
>52. When you get wounded, there is arterial and venous bleeding. They are cured differently. But this does not matter. In battle you don't have time.
>A venous bleeding will kill in hours, an arterial bleeding will cause shock in 10 to 15 seconds. Thus, quickly a tourniquet is placed "above" the wound.
>Professional medics may complain, but this is life. Now your friend has an hour to hour and a half to make it on his own. You can help him if some free time appears.
>53. Tourniquet must always be at hand. Not in a backpack, not in a medack - either around the rifle stock or quickly accesible in chest rig.
>54. Bring TWO tourniquets. You may use yours and require one yourself a minute later.
>>
>55. Suppressive fire works, tracers are good for it.
>56. Tracers do not only contaminate the gun barrel, but also reveal your posistion. Don't abuse them. Also they are bad for giving aimed fire.
>57. Clean your gun every day. Especially around the barrel tip. If scratches appear there, accuracy of the weapon suffers strongly.
>58. Last three bullets in a magazine should be tracers, so empty magazines will not surprise you. Also, when a round is left in the chamber, reloading the weapon is faster.
>59. Take care of your feet, wash them. With blistered feet you are useless.
>60. If you see you can shoot someone, it is not a reason to fire. If you were not spotted, ask your commander.
>61. If you spotted someone, but you were not seen. There is no reason to suddenly jump. Periferal vision will spot you in a second. Move smoothly and without rushing. Go low and assume a firing position. It is much less visible.

End.

What does /k/ think? Truth or are there mistakes to this?

Hey, it is a legitimate thread.
/k/ likes to discuss how to properly operate. I presented the views of someone outside of /k/.

Hopefully a nice discussion will come of this.

Besides, this is better than shitposting about trivial gunmods.

Most modern Frag grenades come with a safety pin and a safety clip. You have to remove both to start the fuse.
>>
>>32224109
And most modern militaries issue grenade pouches.

That wobble is absolutely disgusting. I hope someone was fired over that.
