Anybody know of some decent sights that don't cost as much as a fucking rifle?
I want to get an AR and maybe throw a red dot or an ACOG on it but everything I'' seeing is either 400+ or $50 garbage.

Irons.

Vortex SPARC 2 or Spitfire 2.

There are some quality optics in the ~$90 range. I personally have a Primary Arms Micro Dot.
>oh thats not a bad looking rds..
oh. ewww
>>32215013
Vortex is a pretty great company.
>>32215431
seconding vortex, got the strike eagle on my AR, pretty nice for the price. rifle goes from home to the range in a case and doesn't get bumped around too much, so can't comment on durability

I work at a fun shop and the vortex is pretty good. Go to your LGS and ask to look at one.
The scope RDS is fucking awful, I wouldn't even recommend it to an airshitter
Primary Arms Advanced Micro Dot.
Holy fuck
we need to update the sticky with relevant information and completely remove the gay reddit infographs to supplement threads like this.

Vortex Strikefire II is a good choice. It is basically a $180 aimpoint PRO substitute
Am I the only person still using irons these days? I just can't bring myself to buy/use optics.

Okay being completely honest here, there are a few questions you have to ask.
1. Is this rifle ever going to be used for self defense?
If no, then the TRS25 will work a range toy or hunting red dot.
If yes, then the bare minimum for red dots is the PA Advanced Micro dot.
2. How far am I going to be shooting things?
If the answer is 0-200 yards, then a red dot will be perfectly fine, past 200 yards I like to have magnification.
ACOGs are 1000-1200, Aimpoints are 350-750 dependent on model.
Expensive optics ARE in the long run worth the extra cash.
If that's what you're interested in, then run irons and save up.

Yes, it's $300 BUT right now if you purchase either the 332 or 536, you can send in a rebate to get a Fastfire III (red dot) for FREE.
So really you're getting a 3-5x (your choice) optical sight along with a red dot for $300-350ish depending on your choice prior to tax.
I paid $349.34 for my 5x AR-536. Add in the red dot when it comes in and that's two quality sights for under $350. Either pair them or split them onto two guns, or sell the one you don't like in a month or two for pretty much what you paid.

>red dot or ACOG
lmao go back to cod
>>32218638
Also bought an Aimpoint for $420 during PSA's black friday. Came with a magpul rear sight and 10 PMAGS. They had their lesser model for $399 IIRC but I snagged one of the better models prior to selling out.
So I'm pretty much good on optics for a long time
>>32214979
I would look elsewhere than ACOGs. They were recently BTFO eternally on /arg/ before Black Friday.

>Primary Arms Advanced Micro Dot.
Pretty much this, is at least as reliable and rugged as its SPARC counterpart while having superior battery life by a lulzyhueg margin. Even after upgrading from the MD-ADS to an Aimpoint MD, I still say it's an incredibly good deal considering the price.
>we need to update the sticky
We need to purge both of those useless stickies, the info one still has that SKS infograph I made that's hardly relevant today or even accurate in many parts.
>>32219158
This. ACOGs are outdated when there's quality 1x optics from companies like Leupold, US Optic and Vortex.
How to spot the /arg/ babby/range commando that has no clue what they're doing
>suggests ar500 for use in a plate carrier
>suggests acogs in the year 2016
>still uses reloads from a plate carrier
>>32217915
I got one on my t97, works pretty good
