How did you guys deal with Ballistic Blueballs (nogunz against your will) before turning 18?
>tfw I had to subsist for 2 years on mail order bb guns before I could lay my hands on some delicious real steel
>>
>>32212015
>gifted 2 shotguns upon birth
I was alright.
>>
>>32212015
>tfw if i could walk i could shoot
one of the few things my parents did right.
>>
>>32212015
My parents weren't antigun faggots. I got a Remington 870 for my 10th birthday. And I live in fucking New Jersey.
>>
Sorry OP, but I too was shooting since I was little
>>
>>32212015
Experienced the same shit for 18 years.
>it turned me into a gun addict
I started the very second the hour hand struck midnight and I was a legal adult.
I own 4 BP revolvers, a BP derringer, a savage model 64, started working on a basic 80% AR build, I have a Rossi model 92 on layaway and I just bought another BP derringer kit.
Those of us who grew up covering guns but had no outlet for it had the worst childhoods where all we wanted to do was shoot.
Worst is that I'm Californian so I grew up watching gun ownership get harder and harder and harder.
>>
>>32212015
I was cucked from store bought BB guns as well.

I learned to make my own "target toys. Spent my childhood shooting targets with a PVC pipe with a glove taped to the end. Ammo was anything my friends and I could find from other kids' airsoft BBs to random berries we picked from the bushes.

And when I eventually did scrape together enough money to buy a BB gun from a store, I had to learn to disassemble it in order to hide the pieces.

Being a sneaky little bastard ended up teaching me a lot about diy and science, and it led me to get an degree in engineering.

>and now thanks to the job I got with my degree, I can buy real guns.
>>
>>32212015
Vidya.
>>
>>32212049
I feel that. Got my first .22 when I was 5.
Took me earning my own money as a teenager to buy guns & getting into competition shooting to really get my parents interested in it.

>>
>>32212409
Maybe that was your parents' plan all along: to turn you into an engineer.

That said, imagine what /k/ids like you are doing nowadays with access to shit like 3D printers.
>>
>>32212566
>3D printers.
Maybe if we get a normie-friendly version in the future. Right now, making 3d-printed anything is a hassle, due to differences in printers, plastics, etc.
>>
>>32212339
You should write a book. Idk why but you should really do it anon.
>>
>>32213596
I know some parents would be more willing to buy their kids a 3D printer than a gun. If the kid is smart enough, then he'll figure out how to make his own toy guns.

It's not impossible. I learned how to use shit like Google Sketchup in middle school, and programs to turn the model into something that can be sent to a printer are easily found over google.

>>32213637
I'm actually a writer. One day I'll escape this NEET prison

I personally have a thing for ghettoblasters.
The main problem is that they stopped making the TEC-9, making a used, picky, bulky 9mm semi auto cost as much as a brand new Glock Brand Glock.

You know what sucked? Growing up in a gun household, with parents who are extremely pro gun but only went shooting twice a year, and only after you really begged them. Then he drags you to some shitty bench only fudd range in MD where you have to share a gun with your nagging brother.

It's the worst kind of cock block.

I never got the chance to properly practice, or get some good 1 on 1 instruction. One of the guns we shot most of the time, wasn't even zero'd.

Now I'm 20, and own 5 guna, I try to go has often as I can, but the shitty ranges around here, my low self esteem, and the way my life is scheduled right now, along with some several really rude people, really makes it a pain in the ass.

I started coming here at 16, but lived with my moderately ant gun mother at the time.

At 18 I moved in with my father, who had introduced me to guns at like 13 (which my mother was super pissed about).

Now at 21 I'm a super gun owner.

I didn't mean to imply that sorry, but I fucking wish.

These are from the US Navy Museum in DC. A few years ago a /k/ommando got an internship there and posted pics of all the guns he got to handle.

I literally have 97 photos that he posted. AKs, RPGs, China Lake, Stoner LMG, etc. I'm still jelly of him.

I bough gas operated airsoft guns, I had an m4 and some pistols as well as a couple 22 pellet rifles. Then I turned 18 and sold them to buy an AR. What I coveted most was a WE AK74UN, full bolt travel, Krebs mag well plate and selector, krink goodness. And now I'm fixing to buy/build a real one.
>>
>>32214686
I know that feeling super hard, I want a tec 9 so bad, but I can't justify buying one. Maybe I'll get one of those hi-points that has the $100 bills painted on it
>>
Airshit. I only had a springer I bought from a flea market, as back in the day, airshit was still pretty damn expensive for anything that is electric or gas. Also BB guns and cap guns.

Also vidya, especially MoH:AA and CoD 1/UO/2.

Couldn't easily own guns where I grew up. Only when I moved back to the US when I was 18 did I have the opportunity to own guns. Still didn't until I bought one for self defense years later.
>>
>>32212015
I know exactly how you feel.
I currently subsist on vidya, the iGun Pro app (which is also the only way I'll probably ever see a Nambu function properly), reading into firearms history, living vicariously through YouTubers, and the errant range day with friends and/or cousins (I got to fire an M1903 this way).

I'm 18, but live on a college campus and mom is super anti-gun. Planning on scraping for an Savage AXIS, S&W Sigma SD9VE, and a safe when I get my own place.
>>
>Knives from the stores that wouldn't card (guaranteeing awful quality)
>airshit
>bb/pellet guns
>dad is pretty pro fun so occasional range trips.
I had a few guns before 18 but they weren't legally mine and my access was pretty restricted.
>>
>>32212339
Same here man. I had all this untouched gun fantasy in my head and as soon as I could start buying shit I flipped out.
>>
>>32217328
Also made shitloads of homemade bb guns and spear shooters to destroy shit with. Probably why I;m starting to get into trying to make guns.
>>
>>32212015
My parents loved me and got me into shooting at a very young age. Sorry anon, but kys.
>>
>>32212015
Wanted a gun since I was 12. My dad bought me a bb gun at age 13 and I shot the shit out of it. Eventually, there was this one night where we went to big 5 and there was a Yugo capture k98 on display. looked like one of the k98s I used in cod so I asked the guy at the counter if I could handle it. Obviously he said no but my heart was totally crushed. So I spent the next few years dealing with just bb guns till a month before my 18th birthday.

I was going insane on that last month. I remember getting paid the day before my birthday. I went to another town to go buy a mosin m38 and I saw something so beautiful I had to have it. It was a gorgeous m48 and I bought that instead.

I took a pic of me holding that rifle, but I'm too embarrassed to post it on /k/.

Anyways two years later I have my m48, AR15 that I built out of an 80%, mosin nagant, Argentine mauser, type 56 sks, 1851 navy, 1860 army, .357 mag SAA, I had a Lee Enfield no 4 but I sold that rifle.

Whichever of you it is that has low self esteem, look up. I've made friends at the range before, it's as easy as just asking about a rifle. Now, off the range - being outgoing is another battle.
>>
Airshit, pocket knives and other shit like that. I got to go shooting ocasionally when I was younger (like once a year) but wasent able to buy my first gun till 17. Of all things I bought a styer m95 carbine with a fucking box of 54r for $200 dollars. It was only because I bought it off a sketchy ass dude and it was probably illegal. Still haven't shot it either and probably never will. Other than that I bought a 10/22 at 18 and have an AR in progress. Hoping my dad will buy me a glock or some other pistol for christmas.
>>
>>32212015
Literal gunsafe handed over to me when I was 15 full of gramps' house protection.

Fine
>>
>>32212015
I made the mistake of buying a M1 Garand when I was 17. I was terrified of it and on my 18th birthday I had to go buy a Ruger 10/22 and shoot that for a few months before I got desensitized.
>>
>>32220182
We've had opposite experiences. First rifle was an m48 mauser. That first shot thumped the hell out of me. Over time I tamed the power of the 8mm and I eased into shooting 7.62x39 and 5.56 and eventually rimfires.
>>
>>32212015
I was always inrerested in weapons knifes, swords, bows. I always wanted a gun but thought it would be too expensive or require extensive licencing. I started browsing /k/ when i was 19 and realized it was easy as fuck. Went out and bought a maverick 88 & some slugs soon after. 23 now and just got my dream gun mauser c96 and i will need a bigger safe soon. Living the good life
