Anyone have any sources on deactivated/inert/resin GRO or GRN grenades? Are they even available in the US?
>>
>>32194678
Alright, I see this meme in just about every thread. I'll bite; WHY is it the best stock? Yes it looks sturdy, its simplicity does suggest to me that it should be affordable, it's cool that it comes with its own sling swivel, I ASSUME it's easy to install, I ASSUME it's lighter than a wooden buttstock... are these the reasons why it's best? Light, cheap, easy to install, swivel, and folding? Is there anything useful about that little thing at the top of the triangle?
>>
>>32194691
Speaking of Russian grenades, are F1s and RGD5s still in common use among Russian forces or have they entirely switched over to the GRO and GRN?
>>
>>32194789
It isn't the best in any way, he's just a shitposter who need validation that the stock he bought is actually good and not just a normal old shitty wire folder.
>>

Yeah I see F1s and RGDs all over but I don't think I've ever seen any GROs or GRNs.

I had a rubber F1 a few years back but it got destroyed by a friends dog thinking it was a toy. I almost bought a few resin RGDs a few days ago but wanted to see if any more modern inert or dummy Russian grenades were a thing.

>>

>>

It's not "the best."

They're about on par with underfolders, maybe slightly better.

Which makes them fucking shit.
>>
>>32195714
>>32195634

So.... Like, the point here is what, exactly? You can't put your thumb around the grip?

Can you not just get a fucking thumbhole stock and call it a day?

Is the idea that if you can't wrap your thumb around the gun you can't kill people with it?

Do they think criminals aren't gonna be able to take that off?

I'm sorry I'm just trying to understand.
>>
>>32196336
>how much should i sell my npap underfolder for?
>690 sound reasonable?

I wouldn't fucking pay that for one, but apparently Atlantic is selling them for $740 these days. $50 isn't much of a discount for a used gun though you don't say HOW used I guess.

>They were $550 new a year ago.
>>
>>32195714
How the fuck do you even hold that thing ? Just supporting it with your thumb on the side ?
How comfortable is that to shoot ?
>>
>>32196636
yeah, not him but, thumbhole stocks are considered babby killer devices here too, as opposed to the conditions of the national assault weapons ban where stuff like the SL8 would fly. Yeah the kydex prevents your pistol grip from acting as a pistol grip by preventing your thumb from going around, without permanently altering the weapon. This allows it to be 'featureless' in the eyes of the state, akin to naturally 'featureless' weapons such as mini-14s, socom 16s and the like. And yes its stupid.
>>
When the hell are we going to see arsenal slr 107s coming back? Kicking myself in the ass for not buying a 107fr from Atlantic 9 months ago. Almost pulled the trigger on a DDI but didn't.
>>
>>32196883
Probably summer/fall next year.
There might be a small batch or 2 before then.
>>
>>32197208
I hope you're right. I'm new to AKs and want to get a good one for around $1000. Everything I read seems to have the consensus that all American made rifles at this price point are shit. Is this true?
>>
>>32197278
To me it's mostly true.
With some, it's too early to tell if they're going to end up being good in the long run.
You could always find a kit and have a reputable builder build it, and could possibly get it all for $1k or so.
>I hope so too, I'm tired of all the US made crap we're having to put up with in the meantime.

I was way wrong about the AES10Bs showing back up last summer, but I also wasn't privy to Cugir and subsequently Arsenal Bulgaria, filling contracts thus straining exports to the States.

Hopefully over the next couple years we'll see a renaissance of AK imports.
>>
PSA has some stupid policy that they won't sell rifles to people under 21, are they gonna have any way of knowing if I were to buy it anyways?
>>
>>32197293
So if you were to have $1000 to spend on a AK right now what would you buy?
>>
>>32197537
I'd probably save it and wait.

>We might just see the rollback of sanctions on Russian AKs, and that could have a serious effect on the market.

But if I had to, I'd probably find the cheapest place that had a WASR, and spend the rest on ammo and mags.

https://www.slickguns.com/search/apachesolr_search/RI1805-N?is_firearms_wikiarms=0

Then start putting money away for a nicer rifle, while shooting the shit out of it.
>>
>>32197601
Thanks man
>>
>>32195707
Fuck no. Their kit builds are fine and I would gladly buy one if it came up for sale at a reasonable price.
I would not however buy one of their US made guns. Ever. Even if they get their shit together with the ejectors.

What's a good rail + low profile reddot for a 74?

>>
>>32198370
dust cover rail = shit
get a side mount. RS regulate makes a respectable one, but other companies do too.
red dots...Primary Arms, Holosun, Aimpoint, Vortex, Burris, all make good red dots. Hell even the Bushnell TRS25 isn't complete shit and it can be found in the $70-$100 range. (there are a lot more good red dots than just the ones I listed). Basically find one in your price range and start reading reviews.

>>32198444
they can be found on ebay directly from russia if you're patient.

Ultimately, those orange bakelite mags should be reserved for AKs with wooden furniture. Black plastic or steel mags though, use them on whatever.

Haven't really gotten replies on what to do or what to know, so here I go again.
Atlantic has these new FIME VEPR rifles in 5.45. They're built off of RPK-74M receivers, but are converted to basically be regular AK-74s. I'm debating between one of these and an SLR104-FR, the VEPR being a little cheaper. What do you guys think? They're pretty new rifles so reviews are almost impossible to find.

I dont go on ARG and I own 6 AKs compared to my 3 AR's . I'm not defending his ND but it happened and most gun owners have either had an ND or will eventually have an ND in their life. Also I'm going to probably trust Haley over some slav on of having the idea of your trigger finger anywhere near the trigger on a rifle with the safety off unless pointed at something I'm trying to shoot.

>>32201851
True, he could have easily did the demo with out ammo in the mag but shit happens.
>>
>>32194649

General curiosity here, but from the numbers I've seen even out of an 8.5in barrel 7.62x39 still kicks ass. In fact it only loses like 10-12% velocity at such a barrel length.

That's hardly anything, right? Why aren't there more SBRs out there leveraging this caliber and shorter lengths? Any obvious deficiencies beyond flamethrower muzzle blasts and noise?

I'd buy a factory SBR (and a whole bunch of suppressors) tomorrow if I could just pay the $200 extra funbucks at the counter and walk out with it after completing the 4473.

Delays and fingerprint/photo requirements need to fucking go. It makes no sense to dictate that a rifle becomes a title 2 weapon because it has a short barrel in the first place, but to place ANY additional burden on the purchaser instead of the dealer is just asinine.

Really depends on the importer

90% of them are great (shitty finish and prone to canted parts, but they function just great and are true foreign made rifles before 922r mandated US made parts were a thing), but Century imported some and mixed parts with leftover Chinese parts to spawn the MISR90 and those are garbage, and they're often called Maadis by the uninformed (see: regular old gunshop employees)

I've been shooting guns (recreationally, in the military, competitively, and as an instrictor) since I was 8 and I'm 31 now. I've got a massive round count under my belt and I've shot many many many different types of firearms, and 5.45x39 is unironically and wholeheartedly my favorite caliber ever. It is as close to perfect as perfect can be.

GT 5.45 is iffy, your best bet with ammo is either get 7n6 while it's still the same price as normal commercial ammo or Silver Bear is regarded as some of the best commercial 5.45. I've had great experiences with WPA 5.45 too.
>>
>>32203325
Which is why you think about what you are doing while you are handling firearms. Tada never ND.
>>
>>32203789

>>
>>32203854
This, or just instinctively check the chamber and magazine of whichever gun you pull out of the safe to goof around with and keep all other magazines but the one with the gun away from you, and tada you can goof off all you want with your gun and never worry about an ND because you've checked and checked and checked again that it's clear
>>
>>32203789

>hardmode
If it doesnt cost less than $0.50/peround, it might as well not exist for me
>>
>>32203860
>isn't 7n6 corrosive?
Yes but it's some of the best performing 5.45 you can get. Just flush the gun out with some bottled water before you leave the range and then clean like normal

Tula 5.45 is arguably the worst 5.45 you can get

There is no brass 5.45. Even the fancy and expensive Hornady stuff is steel.

What's the best way to into an underfolding SBR 74u?

Approx price for parts + gunsmith vs prebuilt?

Pistol or rifle first?
>>
>>32204299
Easiest? Find the rifle in the configuration you want with a 16" barrel. Assuming you're in the U.S., file your SBR paperwork. When you get your stamp, pay a gunsmith to cut, crown, and thread the barrel.

>>
>>32206223
I'll play devils advocate with respect to the weight. It's only a couple ounces more than an AK100 polymer folder with the cleaning kit inserted, and that's if you keep the cheek riser. AK74s are front-heavy enough that more weight in the back doesn't degrade the balance of the rifle and may slightly improve it.

Also, you use the version which mounts to the fixed stock trunnion and therefore rides lower than the original design. Since it isn't in-line with the receiver/barrel you probably have a more uncomfortable recoil impulse than the standard 4.5/5.5mm folder version.

I've got a little Russian digital flora pouch (like a little leg pouch thing that came with a magazine I bought) and I've noticed that that pattern works really well where I live (Pacific Northwest). How much would it cost for just a barebones uniform to wear to blend in when playing dress up with my slavshit innawoods? I don't want full on Ratnik plate carriers and helmet (well maybe helmet someday), just pants and jacket, maybe some boots.

Or, would just a gorka be easier and cheaper? Just wear it over whatever I've already got on. How thick are gorkas? Are they thick enough to be warm on their own over a thin layer underneath or are they thin enough to wear over already cozy outdoor clothes?
>>
>>32206550
those rivets look a little sketchy

if you don't mind, field strip it, and take a picture of the inside (tail) of the rivets sticking into the receiver.

Also look at the rivet visible near the chamber area at the front trunnion, and the mag-well rivets.

I hate it when people make fun of that kid. He didn't do anything wrong, he was just born.
And Eric has said he's a gun nut, so it's possible he's on /k/ like other guys his age.
>>
>>32208744
Not at all.
If you want to put one of those on and run around your house or the woods and pretend to be a slav operator then fine, knock yourself out. Have a blast. Just don't let anybody see you doing it or you'll look like a fucking retard.
>>

Yeah, that's what he did wrong. You realize people with that shit don't live happy normal lives, right? Eric should have had his wife abort tbqh, the kid will probably be dead before he's thirty years old

7.62 is usually cheaper than 5.56 but a decent AK such as a WASR is going to go for what a cheap AR does, something like 600-700 if you can find a great deal. Most AK's that are worth buying are going to be over 700+.
protip: stay away from I.O. Century and Waffen Werks.
>>
>>32208782
First of all its literally his wife's son, memes aside, he married into that situation. It was his choice to be involved.

Secondly abortion remains easily accessible for the main purpose to control the black and hispanic populations and less so to kill white thalidomide abortion babies. He'll get his chance when loldrumpf starts euthanizing the sick, don't you know that?

I'm not a burger. I can pick up a 2015 Norinco for a good price, windering if they're as good as the older ones.

if you're not a burger then what are you? you can't be a leaf because all AK's are banned up there, except the VZ58 which is of course the best AK ever made.

seriously though, I have no idea about the quality of current Norinco guns. Just that the ones that were imported into the US before the ban were of good quality.

I just bought myself my first AK
Where can I get a shit-ton of ammo for cheap? I've seen places online that sell surplus 1000 rounds for like $200 but is there anything better?

That's as good as you're going to get unless you hit some kind of sale or something.

also, ammoseek dot com is your friend.

also also, what AK did you get?

Not yet.
The guy shipping them sent both of us both tracking numbers since he didn't know which one was whose.
One was tracking and the other is still in customs, and I didn't know if it was mine or his, turned out it was mine.

I read reviews and people have been saying the mag wobble is pretty bad.
Now I know it is an AK but is the mag wobble really bad on yours? Mine is on its way to the FFL by me and should arrive in like 2 days
I would imagine the wobble shouldn't be bad for California 10rnd mags though
>>
>>32210141
>>32210132
We'll see, does it just show customs or extended customs release? Cause the latter basically means they stole your shit in my experience
>>
>>32210187
Nah. It wobbles a tiny bit but not enough to affect how the bullets feed into the gun. If mag wobble is huge then it could affect how it feeds.
Bring a mag or two with you, show the guys at the gun store that they are empty, and explain that you want to test mag wobble before you accept it. They'll understand.
Also, not sure if all WASR's have these, but my 2015 one has tabs welded inside the mag well that provide some mag support in a similar way the dimples do on other AK's.

>california

I'm working on it. I've got to stay here to finish up my degree then I'm heading out into a free state.
I want an Ak now before they get cucked by the January 1st laws over here so I can go out boar hunting. Last year my friend went out and got a good sized hog
I'm planning to go out with him next year. I was going to bring my nagant but it would be a pain to walk long distance through trees and stuff with it.

What, you don't like the unfinished wood accent?

>>32209326
Probably has something to do with what is either a poor attempt at bait or a lack of knowledge when it comes to the Stoner gas system.

>>32210127
WASRs are alright for $400-550, but anything above that they're unreasonable. Their wood furniture is now garbage, they still have the occasional bent barrel meme, still have the canted sights, no magazine dimples. and poor finish they've always had.

Just that it's hit customs.
It'll show up, it was just a discussion me and Zasta had last thread about whose it was that was out of customs.

I've had stuff show up and it still "hasn't left customs".
I'm sure he's not too concerned about it just yet.
It's only been in customs since Tuesday.

Kill your self
>>
>>32210514
Well to be fair, Daewoo and Chimps made a couple in there when I was preoccupied and couldn't make the thread in a timely manner.

We'll use that thread when this one hits limit, because it's not that big of a deal to me and I hate having conflicting threads.

>And I'm really starting to run out of new ideas for Editions now, I hate reusing old ones.

>>32210619
It's about the premise tho, no one likes Leon. He's basically GC tier, especially now with him banned

>>32210298
From all that I've heard WASR's haven't had a problem with canted sights for quite some time.
>>
>>32210636
Fair enough.
But like everyone else who's tried to make new threads, eventually they give up and I go back to it.
It was the same last winter, when some guy kept making new threads 50-60 posts early.
>He quit trying to keep it up after a couple weeks.
So as long as we have a thread, we'll use it and I'll post them when they give up.

>At least he posted the correct format and numbered the thread properly.
