Trump just convinced Carrier to keep 1,000 jobs in Indiana and he isn't even in office yet.

They'd announced their intention to move some months ago and Obama didn't even notice. He was too busy trying to git mo money for dem programs.
>>
>>32169877

Lurk more then.
>>
>>32169891

I'm really hoping he can somehow get the sawmill in my town reopened. It'd be a big fucking help to our local economy and it might be nice to have a chance at a decent paying job that I didn't half to drive 45 minutes to and 45 minutes back if traffic is with me. He's ticking all the right boxes. Renegotiating the trade deals that made it more appealing to house in other countries, less EPA regulation possibly reopening the timber, lowering the corporate tax rate to the point that it'd be dumb not to do business in America. I mean it's been gone for a while but most all of the infrastructure is still there. Though I'll just be happy if we get suppressors. I'm an easy guy to please.
>>
>>32169934
I don't know how to tell you this, but automation raped way more jobs than globalization and environmental regulations put together.
>>
>>32169008

>>
>>32169954
automation doesnt shut down factories, they just replace the workers.
well you could say that if you cant afford to adapt, you have to close down.

anyways automation will just require a different type of workforce. similiar to what the industrial revolution did.
>>
>>32169954

That mill was already fairly automated when it went out. It still employed a few hundred people which was the backbone of my community's economy. You still need people to run the machines, people to maintain the machines, people to move the product, ect. More modernized automation might cut down somewhere around 25% of the jobs that mill provided but even just having 75% of those jobs back in the economy would be a huge fucking boost. You have no idea how many other jobs in our community relied on that mill. Like I said it's an uphill battle but instead of being a whiny pessimist I prefer to be optimistic about the prospects. It's not the most likely scenario but Trump seems to be poised to do a hell of a lot more to get those jobs back than Bush or Obama did and at the very least I appreciate the effort.
>>
>>32169977
yes, and less of a workforce. I need fifty guys to build a car, but only 3 to keep the machines going that build a car. Add maybe 3 guys to keep the machines going that build the machines and i traded 50 jobs for 6. That's blue collar.
White collar is a different story, i need a lot more engineers nowadays.
But blue collar factory jobs are going to get phased out.

I don't know how to tell you this, but you have zero idea of what the fuck you are talking about. The factory towns, maybe. The lumber and farming and dairy towns? They're a victim of 40 years worth of vindictive Marxist horseshit masquerading as 'environmentalism.' We're not having all these assfuck huge fires because of global warming; we're having them because the fucking Feds won't let the lumber mills go out and mow the lawn every so often.
>>
>>32170173
PS: when a half century's worth of old growth goes up and turns a thriving ecosystem into Dresden it doesn't do your pet fucking protected species like the spotted fucking owl any good, either.

>logging prevents forest fires

This is technically true, in the same way that cyanide prevents cancer.
>>
>>32170106

>I have never worked manufacturing before

Trust me man those machines aren't the gods you seem to think they are. The machines need constant maintenance. Usually about 7 guys per shift per step. We also needed about 20 people to run them for one step and one shift with probably another 80 working the other machines in our fab during our shift all with their own maintenance crews just as big as ours. Again we were only one shift for one fabrication unit out of 3. That's not including people that actually assemble the chips, people that test the chips, whatever the fuck Mask did and the administration to keep the whole fucking thing from collapsing in on itself. And that's microprocessors. I guarantee you we had a shitload more mechanization than any car manufacturing plant. Any large scale factory job is going to need at least several hundred people to keep everything up and running. Those several hundred jobs contribute a huge boost to the surrounding economies. Trump is right to want to fight for them.
>>
>>32170194
Enlighten me then, if you're for real.

>>32170206
Nice snide comeback. Now tell me how it's done, Mister I Live In A Cubicle And Work In Another Cubicle And Eat Processed Food And Shit Taxable Revenue.
>>
>>32170206
Clear cutting is fucked, but selective logging is just fine and does seriously mitigate the spread of forest fires.
>>
>>32170206

>I have no idea what a controlled burn is.
>I have no idea what sustainable logging is

Protip dipshit. Those forests that were being harvested were also being replanted with the intention of another cut a few years down the line. Now that they're closed the forests are overcrowded with new growth that can't weather a fire like the old growth can. Once a spark goes up they're all kindling and the fire spreads hotter and faster than can be controlled.

The only way I see Dugan coming back is if he managed to secure some major funding for all the ammo he burns on each video.

Yeah, I was thinking something like that, but Hickok never fires too much ammo in his videos.

The timber industry is a very personel based industry that requires skilled labor.

This guy gets it. I worked as an operator on automated assembly machines for car parts, then a material handler to keep them supplied, and now do the maintenance to keep them running. Yes, they shave quite a bit of manpower, but they still require support personnel.

>>32170311
I highly doubt he is handy enough to do his own projects.

>>32170411
I doubt ammo manufacturers will want to be associated with Dugan's hilariously stupid and ridiculous antics, sadly.

I laughed pretty hard at the buying ammo part of the Glock 17 Fireside video. It's pretty correct about some people buying ammo.
You're going to go to the gun store, and you're going to walk right up to the counter and say:

Hi, I need some Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Then you're going to look past the man at the counter and see...see all that nine millimeter. And you're going to think:

Yeah, that's what I need.

But then you're going to see another box. It's labeled three-hundred and eighty thousandths of an inch. And you're going to think:

That'll fit inside my chamber.

And you're right. It will. It'll probably fire from a Glock 17.

But it's not supposed to.

Now I feel with this hiatus, the demand for his videos has increased as well has his fanbase/viewer count leading him to reconsider making videos again.
