There was a Marine in Falijua that bayoneted some sandniggers after charging into their fighting position. He got a gold star or some shit for it.

Bayonets are useless in modern warfare but in hand to hand combat, there's no doubt they provide an amazing amount of intimidation factor and standoff distance. The problem is that hand to hand combat just doesn't happen enough to really justify carrying a bayonet on you at all times.
Multipurpose bayonets are a good idea, something that the solider can use for tasks other than just ripping people apart.

Brits did it in the sandbox.
How has this not been mentioned already?

i've heard of this, can't remember where it was in the ME.
Basically the Taliban were told that westerners would roll over and die without much hassle, bunch of terrorists attack a convoy, when Brits run out of ammo they bayonet charge the mofos
Brits chase off the ones they didn't shoot or shank.

Yeah, it was in Helmand. Happened a couple times over the war I think.

now I'm thinking of soldier marching around with Swiss Army knives mounted on their rifles instead of bayonets.

Brits bayonet-charged some Taliban when they were low on ammo, killing 28 enemies (not all with bayonets though)

Capt. Millett, Company E, distinguished himself by conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity above and beyond the call of duty in action. While personally leading his company in an attack against a strongly held position he noted that the 1st Platoon was pinned down by small-arms, automatic, and antitank fire. Capt. Millett ordered the 3d Platoon forward, placed himself at the head of the 2 platoons, and, with fixed bayonet, led the assault up the fire-swept hill. In the fierce charge Capt. Millett bayoneted 2 enemy soldiers and boldly continued on, throwing grenades, clubbing and bayoneting the enemy, while urging his men forward by shouting encouragement. Despite vicious opposing fire, the whirlwind hand-to-hand assault carried to the crest of the hill. His dauntless leadership and personal courage so inspired his men that they stormed into the hostile position and used their bayonets with such lethal effect that the enemy fled in wild disorder. During this fierce onslaught Capt. Millett was wounded by grenade fragments but refused evacuation until the objective was taken and firmly secured. The superb leadership, conspicuous courage, and consummate devotion to duty demonstrated by Capt. Millett were directly responsible for the successful accomplishment of a hazardous mission and reflect the highest credit on himself and the heroic traditions of the military service.

It could just be a legend but I remember hearing about this as well from some brits at Camp Bastion in 2009-10. The unit in question routinely patrolled through grass/plants that were 5+ feet tall and would stumble upon taliban almost face-to-face so they started going out on patrol with their bayonets mounted.

"Out of about 50 enemy dead, roughly 20 were found to have been killed by bayonets, and the location subsequently became known as Bayonet Hill."
>Renaming an entire location because you stabbed so many chinks
fucking legend

I've heard of two.
One was a British convoy getting attacked by trainee taliban troops, and they charged and killed most of them.
The other is that they got ambushed, charged enemy position and the enemy ran away without and cqc.
Not sure about the former but the latter did happen.
