Hi /k/, I have a problem. No matter how much i mash on this thing with a hammer, it refuses to go in.
1. The rounded part went in first.
2. Hammer is not cocked.
3. The hammer strut is in the little cup in the mainspring housing.
How to i get it to go in? It gets halfway and stops. Pic related.

Also, QTDDTOT.

Three things come to mind.

Easiest one is the mainspring housing isn't set in there all the way. You can check to see if pushing it up a little while tapping the pin works.

2. If the mainspring housing is up all the way then try putting a slightly smaller punch through the hole then check the function of the hammer, grip safety, and trigger. If everything works the try pushing out the smaller punch with the pin.

3. If there is something wrong with the hammer or trigger then you put the searspring in wrong and it is pushing the hammerspring out of line. Disassemble and try again.

This is probably the most likely answer, as i tried the punch thing and everything works fine. I'll try it out, thanks!

How accurate is the sizing on safes?

Will a 12 gun safe actually fit 12 guns, or is it more like 'should fit twelve guns as long as none are too long, have scopes, and you don't need to fit other things in there'?

>>32149358
Get a safe that's bigger than you need so your wife doesn't realize it when you buy more guns.

.300 blackout. Worth it?
I've heard it's better on shorter barrels and ranges (up to 150 yards), is there any truth to that? I plan on getting a suppressor for it regardless

Are you supposed to retract the AR stock when using an optic? I have to crane my neck very far to get good eye relief even with the optic all the way back. Should the stock be in the short position with an optic?
>>
I have been wanting a lever action rifle. Local pawn has a 1981 Glenfield 30a with JM marked barrel in decent shape (stock was a little wobbly, nothing some new screws wouldnt fix). Asking $325. Seemed a little high to me so I passed. If I could talk him down to under $300 should I get if? I cycled it a few times, the action is smooth and solid feeling.
>>
>>32149730
you should have worried about eye relief when you installed the optic dumbass. if you zeroed it with the stock collasped yes you need it collapsed for proper eye relief
>>
>>32149730
>have stock in most comfortable position
>optimal in both arm and cheek weld for you

the 83s major downside its surplus getting replacement parts and mags are hard. if you get a good condition one good. if you dont welp.
with the rami they dont all jam but enough of them do to exclude it from serious consideration. if youve got the budget for a jami you can buy a bunch of other guns.

The number Generally means the number of bolt action/ tubefed shotguns can fit, as there is generally not a ton of space between the slots where the guns go. I've got a 32 gun safe I think, and I have to skip a few spaces in between larger guns like my AR's , wasr, SxS, and guns I generally don't want beaten up if something shifts. I'd say get about one size larger than what you'd think would work

I'm disappointed to hear that about the Rami, first gun I ever shot was a CZ75B and it kind of made me a CZfag. Was excited at the idea of a 75B chopped down small enough for concealed carry.

I'd recommend a Bersa 380 Combat Plus. Great Glock-style sights, comfy grips, 15+1 capacity, and only slightly thicker than the regular Bersa. Mags are pricey though. Load it up with some Underwood +Ps and you're GTG.

A relatively new(bie) AR-15 owner here. I recently bought myself a new (Hera) grip to replace the standard one (M4). It seems like the bolt that holds the grip in is just long enough to interfere with the fire selector / trigger mechanism doo-hickey and prevent both the trigger and the selector from moving. Is there any dangers in either shortening the bolt itself, or adding few washers between the bolt head and the grip?

because people will argue over anything,
desu you sound like bait but whatever
they mostly complain that it is heavy, unwieldy, difficult to cycle, and obnoxious. these claims are true but if you don't care about those factors than the mosin is a great cheap piece of history which shoots cheap ammo and does not break

Question

When chambering a round, sometimes it gets pushed below the barrel and the jams the slide. If it chambers normally the next round is halfway out of the mag when I eject the mag.

Problem with gun or magazine?
>>
>>32151816
>implying it's the rifle that made him that good
As a combat rifle, it had all the disadvantages of its system. For a sniper, with the accurized Finnish model, it was pretty damn good. But Häyhä would probably have done just as well with an Enfield, Mauser, or Springfield sniper rifle.

I'm toying with the idea of building a Lee-Enfield Obrez, a little like pic related (with a few modifications). As I understand it, even if the end result would legally qualify as a pistol, it would still be considered an SBR thanks to being originally configured as a rifle. However, I also understand that this can be worked around by building it off of a "virgin" receiver.

Would a barrelled action like this be considered such a "virgin" receiver, thus saving me a $200 tax stamp or the ATF shooting my dog?
http://www.e-sarcoinc.com/barreled-receivers-and-receivers-for-3-and-4-enfield-and-308-2a.aspx

For the record, I plan on fabricating as many of the parts as I can. I don't want to fuck up a piece of history, I just want a stupid-ass range toy.

Hi guys,

I'm a Europoor that has dual EU/US citizenship and I've finally just moved to the good ole U S of A. I now live in Florida so a state with okay gun laws from what I've heard. Now, the question is,

Is a Glock 17 a decent first gun?

I've decided to get something for personal protection and that is also easy to transport and conceal. I've already made a friend and he took me out shooting with him and I was able to practice with his Glock 22 and his AR15. The Glock 22 was nice but was slightly bigger than what I imagined with a decent sized kick. How much smaller is the 17 and how much weaker is the recoil? Would you recommend it or suggest a different gun for me? Any better Glock variants? Any other input?

Please no
>hurr waste some money on baby's first .22 for beginner's first gun
I'm not a complete novice when it comes to firearms but also not as experienced as some people around here.

Thanks in advance.

If I use a cable gun lock to store my gun, can I let the slide close on it? Will this damage the gun in any way or should a gun slide be left open when using a cable lock
>>
>>32157724
You would be better off finding a rifle someone bubba'd already.

Barreled action is still a rifle. It will be an SBR if you start with that or a complete rifle.

You may run into references to people making mosin pistols by destroying the receiver and rewelding it to make it a new receiver. Do not do this with an enfield receiver.
>>
>>32158160
I haven't used the G22, but I imagine it's not that much bigger than the 17. It only weighs 2 oz more. The G23 weighs 3.4 oz less that the G22, though, if you want stay with a .40. (Those weights are all with a full mag, btw)
>>
>>32158160
>The Glock 22 was nice but was slightly bigger than what I imagined
>How much smaller is the 17
The glock 17 is literally the same exact size as the glock 22, they have identical dimensions. It's the internal bits that are different. Glock actually lists the exact dimensions of their guns on their website.
https://us.glock.com/products/model/g22
https://us.glock.com/products/model/g17

Go with a Glock 19.
https://us.glock.com/index.php/products/model/g19

>smaller than glock 17, makes it much easier to conceal carry
>still large enough to shoot with no discomfort
>can use glock 17 mags, but its standard mags are 15 rounders

There is little reason to get a glock 17, and much less if ease of transport and concealment are factors for you.

>how much weaker is the recoil
Noticeably, but if .40 gives you trouble, 9mm might too. Best to get in some range time to get used to it.

Bullshit on the "how many bolt action" can fit.
They all are rated on non-scoped lever actions. Maybe they use Red Ryders, even. Wouldn't surprise me.

You'd be lucky to put 6 bolt actions or even scoped semi-autos in a "12 gun" cabinet without experiencing heavy storage marks when trying to get one out or put it back.

In what regard?
SS cab be brushed. matte, or polished.
Nickel will be polished with a faintly yellow hue.
Chrome will be polished, with a faintly blue hue and more durable than plain nickel (chrome plating is done over nickel plating).
If you're talking "hard chrome", that's not a cosmetic finish (it will generally be matte) but a protective, durable, wear-resistant finish.

If you're talking an 80% ar15 lower, the equipment to make a proper jig out of wood would be more expensive than buying a manufactured jig.

Problem is I haven't assembled it yet and want the caps on hand to test the rifle before I fire any live ammo through it. I don't have any spent brass on hand, just live rounds. I can pull the bullet and dump the powder just fine but I don't know how to get the primer out without setting it off.

So, how do I go about chemically deactivating the primer before I try and punch them out so I don't blow blow a punch into my hand in the process? I live in the suburbs so I'd rather not try and detonate the primers in my backyard but if that's really the easiest way I can manage.

I'd also like to try this on some 9mm rounds if the .223 snap caps work alright. I don't know if pistol primers different chemically so I thought I'd mention it.
