If you can always clean your AR it's as reliable as a dirty AK.

If.
>>
>>32139454
The whole reason the ar-15 is better is because the rock doesn't get into the gun because the tolerances are tighter. You're never going to get anything into an air tight gas port unless you put it there.
>>

>after 60 years of development the AR15 is finally reliable
wew lad about time

it's a shame that stoner didn't live long enough to witness this
>>
if noguns were banned off /k/ we would never have these threads

if you treat your rifle like shit, it won't fucking work. AKs and ARs are known for being reliable. if you try to make them fuck up, they'll fuck up. AKs are different than ARs, so obviously they'll work better or worse in different conditions.
>>
>>32139675
You realize that service guns are in terrible conditions the second you get them because other retards have abused them? A middle eastern AKM you got from some tuskan raider, while old, has been buried in the ground since the cold war or even larger in very dry conditions. It might as well just be brand new.

One video from a youtube channel and it's science, hahah. If it were the other way around you would be defending the AR until someone did a comprehensive military study or some shit.

What I do know is that the AK is more reliable in all other cases. I haven't tried dumping my guns into a wheelborrow full of mud yet, perhaps next time I go to the range...
>>
>>32139574
Why not piston AR?

The reason it failed was because the water that was caught in the gas tube and any piston would alleviate that problem (hence the AK passed.)
>>
>>32139354
All these tests were done using most american made aks, if you watch iraqvets melt down vids, the Russian veprs btfo american shit, i have a valmet m78, and i got to stop working, after i put several handfuls of dirt in the bolt/chamber area, it only took ~7 seconds disassemble, clean, and re assemble, had an ar experienced the same failure you wouldnt be able to get it running as quickly

No reason a piston AR is not viable. I think piston ARs are an improvement, if properly executed, but stonerfags disagree. Mainly because muh-ounces-equllllll-pounds, rifle-is-fine mentality. I have like 5 AR lowers, I think I'll get a piston upper to try out.
>>
>>32139354
>not knowing the AR-18 is undoubtedly the best
>>
>>32139981

I think for it to have any meaning they need to be compared at different price levels. I'm an AK guy, but I think they are WAYYYY over priced, lets hope that changes. At $700 or less, an AR is probably a better gun. They are just a bargain. Over that and AK quality really picks up, but that's a lot to me given their historical cost and ergonomic/modularity drawbacks.

In America, the AR is the smart choice for reasons other than reliability. IMHO

Stick is better. Stick has better accuracy and can stab. Rock has horrible accuracy and still sink in water.
>>
>>32140161
Rock can stab too! Rock doesn't need Accuracy at close range!
>>
>>32140206
stabbing rock very rare. sharp stick on any tree.
>>
>>32140206
Yes it does! Rocks accuracy is completely dependent on user. Stick is WAY easier to handle. Your wife can hit something with a stick easier than a rock. It's super user friendly. Plus you have to shape a rock to stab. A stick comes stock with stabbing abilities.
>>
>>32140254
>>32140252

Only if stick is straight. Most stick not straight. It takes time to find stick that is straight without cutting it down. so you get stick straight as drunk uncle at thanks giving party without tough work.
>>
>>32140324
Stick is easier to conceal than rock.
>>
>>32139454
> Fitting something into the ar gas port/system
Top Kek mate.
Come to think of it, I can't really think of a gun where this is even a remote concern.
Do you has gunz friend?
>>
>>32140377
Just because you put stick in asshole, is not concealed. Rock hurt more when thrown, and bigger rock off cliff can kill mammoth! Try that with stick.
>>
>>32140438
> Sharpen lots of sticks with /k/ave brothers
> Dig deep hole
> Fill with sharp sticks
> cover sticks with Doo Doo then you have assault sticks (some tribes no like, bad for meat, only good for wounding, will be bad for hunting some say)
> Cover hole
Wait and wait and you get something sometime
Stick ideas endless possibilities
Rock reliable , but limited.
>>
>>32139354
Are you kidding me? The m16 was born with bad reliability and frequently jammed in vietnam, whereas the AK was designed with reliability in mind from the start; utilizing a roomy internal design and as little moving parts as possible.
>>
>>32140773
>The m16 was born with bad reliability and frequently jammed in vietnam

>>

The US Army can afford ARs because they have the money and time to buy tones of lubricant

copypasta is believed to have originated on the military and weapons enthusiast image board Operator Chan sometime in 2010. The earliest archived posting was submitted on November 11th, 2010 to 4chan’s /jp/[4] (Otaku Culture) board, in which the poster claimed to have seen the message previously on Operator Chan.

What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I’ve been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I’m the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You’re fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You’re fucking dead, kiddo.

Iraq veterans needed to relubricate their M-4s several times during a patrol, even when no shots were fired.

>>32141219
And heres what wikipedia says: "The direct gas impingement system sometimes caused rapid overheating of the bolt carrier assembly with combustion residue reducing self-loading reliability after firing as few as (200) rounds. This basic design flaw also renders the AR-15 unreliable except in "range-clean" condition."

>>32139354
The AR is better sealer and built with smaller tolerances/clearings. This prevents junk from entering too easily, though it has the drawback that once shit has entered, it takes much longer to put the weapon back into action. With the AK it's basically: pop up the dust cover, rinse the interior with your canteen, shake the rifle, put dust cover back on and you're good to go. With the AR you have to fieldstrip the rifle, take the bolt apart, clean everything with your toothbrush, lubricate the bolt, put everything back together and you're good to go.

MAC had torture tested an AR and an AK. The AK was more reliable.
Aregularguy had torture tested an AR, a Tavor and an AK. The AK was the most reliable.
