I saw some Air Force guys in Iraq back in 2005. They still carried A1s and most of the anodizing was worn off the receivers.

Today's security forces are issued some nice gear. The problem is they let fat females and idiots into the career field that look like retards.

In 2007 we had cool deployments, did external patrols, convoy security, and a lot of ILO missions. Now since there is enough of everybody the cool deployments went away and k9 is the last section that can do anything cool, and even then the deployments have slowed to nothing.

Otherwise, put on some abu's, sit in your closet for 12 hours, do not go to the bathroom, be worried you're going to get yelled at for something you didn't even know you were doing wrong and viola, you just lived a day in the life of a security forces member.

Security forces have had the sopmod since like 02. I don't know the exact date but when I joined in 05 we carried the m4 sopmod.

The regular office guys(lucky people) get all the really old shit and write their names on duct tape and look like morons.

It's becoming more rare but AFCAMs and CABs from ILO were common. Now all those people are being forced out for the peacetime military to take over. I deployed to Cano bucca and worked the prison side. Also went on convoys to transport prisoners. It as a fun and respectable deployment. Now it's pretty gay. I imagine it's like the Vietnam air police that saw combat then in the 70's the career field went back to shit.

At my base we had custom Velcro patches with our name and rank with a little badge on it. It looked pretty cool.

K9 falls under security forces but it really should be it's own career field. The army just broke their k9 off of the military police units and hopefully the air force does the same.

I was always proud to say I was k9 but was ashamed to say we fell under security forces. BUT from friends that are still in k9 is having a lot of trouble keeping the straight leg leadership out of their shit because the deployments slowed down so much. When I see in we had our own deployment schedules, vehicles, and only had other k9 as troops. It was a tight knit family and everyone had a lot of pride in our jobs and people always love us because of the dogs. The regular security forces guys always get shit on and treated horribly.

id say guard/reserve man. They always have the really old stuff. I was in kunsan in 05. The base was supposed to get shut down so we didn't get any new shit but we all had the m4 with aimpoints. The only A2 I ever carried was on security patrols that dictated a 203. We didn't have the m4 203 at that time at kunsan. When I left every base.we using the m4 for everything.

It depends on your base what you can put on your rifle and what 249 versions they'll use.

The guard guys have them now but back then I could see that happening.

I went through k9 school in 08. One of my instructors did 6 months because of a false rape allegation. I don't know the full story or details but he was reinstated when she reneged. She was a dependant that claimed rape when her husband found out. The military didn't do anything about her ruining this dudes life, marriage, reputation, and career. This just gave him his position back and acted like nothing happened.

I also saw this happen in kunsan with a fire fighter. For three months he was treated like scum because of the allegation. Then the female came out and said she made it up because she was late for work. Absolutely nothing happened to her. She was charged with false official statement, lost a stripe, but I saw her in Kuwait on my way to Iraq years later and she had tech stripes. This had happened when she was an a1c.

They were using 'em way later than that I think. My dad was Air Force until the mid-'90s and brought home an M1 steel pot after his last training exercise before he finished his enlistment. Still have it in my room; needs a liner and suspension now though.
