What other books do you have? If you only have one book, then you have none. Good choice on the Lyman, but at least get the new Hornady book too. Hornady is my go-to.
And Hodgdon's website is another good resource for starting loads.

idk about your bullet selection, but it's not hard to work up a load using any bullet.

Brass wise, make damn sure to separate 223 from 556 brass. The primer area of the 556 is a lot thicker and can result in dangerously high pressures if you dump the wrong load in.

Other than that, I'm surprised that you actually did your homework. Looks good, like an actual plan.

I've got something that I got with my Dillon press, dunno the name. It's cold in the garage rn so sorry.
The Lyman would be the only other one at the moment. My concern with the hornady book was I figured I'd only be getting info for hornady loads, which may not apply considering I'm not using hornady components, but I am buying their press.

The brass has always been reliable as far as my 45acp is concerned and my buddy has had great success with his 223 brass.

Bullets are bullets are bullets. You buy the extra books because each one has similar but different info, and different powders used. One book may not have your AR Comp load, but the other will. Other than that, you go off the weight for your charges.

And, if for some reason you can't find the COAL or BC for your bullet, contact the manufacturer and they'll provide it and have ac hat about loads and things that may work for you. Sierra is awesome for this.

You, I forgot to tell you this earlier. Get the Hornady book for your Garand. They have a special Garand section that will give you good loads for 150, 165/168, and 175gr bullets. I haven't seen another manufacturer book do this.

Sierras are pricier but have been one of the best for a long damn time. As for prices, just go look at Midway. Generally, it can be considered that their game bullets (gameking, blitzking) are damn near match, which is why I've always loved them for hunting and plinking. Buy one to try, then buy 5 because bulk discounts. Hornady bullets are another good choice for a wallet friendly high performing bullet. I love their interlock line, both FMJ and SP.

Does anyone have experience using either a CNC mill or a laser to engrave through the Type III anodizing usually found on aluminum lowers?

Since the tool / laser will be removing the anodized coating and exposing the aluminum underneath, will the anodizing flake off around the edges of the engraving over time? I plan on color filling in the engraving as well.

Im pretty much just getting something put together for now and slowly improving it. 16.1" barrel NEA upper, mostly because its canadian. AR-15 are a bitch to get in canada honestly, For a non ridiculous price that is. a $800 ar-15 in the states could go for 1500+ in canada, so you need to build with whats available, and a lot of things are importable across the border from america. Its a lengthy process to build a decent ar-15 here.

Are Stoner uppers fine for a build? I think I may just build a 14.5-7" for use with my Mk4 rail when it comes in. I've never assembled an upper, just lowers.
