Native english speaker who knows conversational spanish (enough to tell them to fuck off back over the border anyways), if there was any language I really wanted to learn it would be Russian, but I don't know if there's any practical uses for it if I'm not planning to move

I'm learning it, aside from it being a beautiful language that is spoken by over 150m people, you can communicate in a way that most Americans (Westerners in general) cannot understand. I see the language becoming memey lately, basic shit like swear words and all, but I wouldn't worry about it.
I personally play several video games that have large Russian speaking populations, so it helps me communicate with a good portion of the player base. Aside from that, I find it very enjoyable to learn. Talking with Russians (that are not dicks) is a breath of fresh air, super nice people that are surprisingly friendly towards Americans (as far as I've seen so far) and happy to help you. I was told that it builds trust with them if you show interest in learning, especially an American, because of the history between us.
The only thing is that resources to help you learn are shit, I bought several books and programs that weren't cheap and spent a year learning from them, only to have several Russians tell me that what I learned was bullshit and I would be either laughed at or seriously misunderstood if I said that shit in Russia. So go with something like italki (what I used until I found a few Russians to talk to) or some other places, just not rosetta stone or other shit like that, it doesn't work.
So far I've spent a year or so learning it (a month or two with actual Russians which have improved my skills 10x) and I plan on continuing, it really is a great language. Once you get past the initial hiccups like grammar and structure (takes maybe a month to get down pat) and all it is literally just vocabulary. I definitely recommend it m8, I'm loving it.

Something I forgot to mention: Just knowing how to spell English words in Cyrillic is being able to send practically secret messages. Some words are somewhat easy to make out, but if the person has no idea how to read Cyrillic then it is like Greek to them. It's fun to fuck with friends like this.

It makes no sense as either one word or two.

Back does in fact translate to "For Dima", phonetically it's pronounced "Dimka" but that's just a cute-ified way of saying Dima which is short for Dimitry, a common Slavic name. Same way as "Nikolai" can be modified into "Kolya" and then "Kolka".
