LGS had a Hornady kit on sale so I got a press, basic bits, and a sonic cleaner for $300.

What bullets, weight and type?

M2 ball load is basically 46gr of 4895 behind a 150gr bullet. Pressure wise 4895 is slow and stable, so going up or down a grain won't change too much faster, but will allow you to dial in a workable load. Otherwise, 46gr is what I use on 150 and 165gr bullets for a very accurate load in most 30-06s.

Untrue, it is an excellent weapon. It's more rugged and robust than people give it credit for. It is not a light, futuristic cqc weapon like people think, it's a tough, overbuilt weapon meant to be able to function as an LMG with just a barrel swap. It kicks ass, and isn't made by jews. Any advice on adjusting the crimp die? For seating length I was going put a finished cartridge in to set my initial length and go from there with the calipers.

My crimp die is built into my seating die.

Are you using used brass or new? if it's used, your biggest problems will be primer related. everything else is almost always smooth/problem free.
I have trouble with crimped primer pockets, even after cleaning/trimming. at least 5% of the time i fuck up the primer, it's annoying.

I don't trim for 3-4 loads, but I don't shoot high pressure either. And if you seat in the cannalure you fuck the neck up a little, which is why I seat just under it. Your length will be fine. As for crimping, I use a separate die. I haven't used a combo die.
