Can you really call yourself a gun enthusiast if you don't completely strip your weapons down to their bare minimum components?
>>
>>32108637
yes
>>
>>32108650
Can you though?
>>
>>32108637
There's a difference between enthusiasm and autism.

That's like going to a car meetup though and saying you're a car enthusiast but don't understand how combustion engines work.

I liked the first iteration of your thread better.

I always at least field strip every new gun, and try to get around to completely stripping them all to bare components so that I can learn and troubleshoot later. I try to do it without guides or exploded views, it helps me remember the layout better.

The exception being peened or permanently pinned components, like 1911 safety plunger tubes and such.

And yes, you should disassemble it.

Sorry, I panicked because my muh serial number. Also sometimes bigger reads get less posts.

>without guides
Absolute madman. The videos I'm watching say this pocketlite is similar to the 1911, but how similar I'm not really sure. Doesn't seem like I really need any special tools. The small springs and pieces that fit snug just seem like such a pain to get back in sometimes.
>>
>>32108637
And what? Store them all jumbled up in a massive tupperware container? What's the point?
I'd say anyone who stores their guns in more than 1 or 2 (in case of AR or something easy like that) parts is probably suffering from mental illness.

Having some method of organization helps a lot, like these rubber trays So does prior experience. Most guns are similar in most ways so surprises are rare.
>>
>>32108702
>In order to understand how an international combustion engine works you must 1st complete disassemble a car.

No it really isn't.
>>
>>32108762
I mean when cleaning them, obviously. Not just removing the slide and running a few pads through the barrel.
>>
>>32108702
Aye bruh you finna spark that?
>>
>>32108778
Any retard can loosen screws and nuts until the engine falls into pieces, but try explaining how an engine functions to a retard and you'll be met with blank stares.

Why do I feel like this is the second time I've typed that sentence? Did we have this thread not too long ago?
>>
I think the Czechs peened both ends of the pin holding my cz52's barrel assembly together.

So i need to find a small press to get the pin out.
>>
>>32108778
Have you never field stripped your truck?
>>
>>32108777
p-post more disassembled guns
>>
It's generally the first thing I do with a new gun. Partly because I enjoy it, partly to clean it. It really helps you understand how the machine is working and that adds something to a gun for me. It's like legos but when I finish putting it together stuff explodes.

It's also because it takes forever to get somewhere and shoot it which is no fun.

The fuck. Are all revolvers like that?
>>32108843
I shoot guns to clean them, I say.
>>
>>32108847
Get that gun some proper side panels

>absolutely disgraceful
>>
>>32108879
That is relatively simple for a revolver.
>>
Sometimes it's not feasible to remove every part, or reasonable to do so. I can take my Makarov down to the frame, barrel, and trigger guard with my bare hands, but taking out the pins and removing the barrel and trigger guard makes absolutely no sense to do, and could only create problems if reassembled incorrectly

>>
>>32109158
take a punch and rotate the washer so the open end is pointing up

a nail or something might work too if you're careful, or a screwdriver

don't scratch it now...
>>
>>32109121
That's pretty hot.

Pic of how the bolt, slide, and barrel mate together?

I wonder if World of Guns has a Remington R51 ?
>>
>>32109186
>don't scratch it now...
too late..

I just store my handguns in a five gallon bucket of ballistol, before I go to shoot them I just fish one out work the action and dry fire it a little, swish it in the ballistol again and shake it off. Then I use a wet rag to wipe the excess from the exterior so as to be able to grip it. Never needs disassembly or additional cleaning, never rusts, always lubed.

No, really. Is this some sort of sick joke? Do I need a special tool to remove this washer? I've literally spent 2 hours trying to get this fucker off. I have no idea what is going on anymore.
>>
>>32109013
it's a fake suppressor. it had to be attached to pass the 68 GCA to be imported.

Like this.
Let me see if I can explain.

The recoil spring collet bottoms out on the frame at the front, under the barrel. The locking block bottoms out on the frame at the back, seen here. This leaves the barrel a small length of front-t-back travel; it's loose when out of battery. When the breech is closed with a round chambered, the recoil spring pushes the slide relatively forward, which in turn pulls the locking block forward, keeping the locking block pressed to the back barrel with no wiggle. When fired, blowback keeps the two mated for a short distance (about 1/8") before the barrel stops and the locking block, carried by the slide, separates from it. Just enough time for chamber pressure to fall to a safe level before coming out of battery. It's a crude form of delayed blowback called a hesitation lock.
>>
>>32109794
There are special tools for those.

I just use needle nose pliers
