If it was the mid 1930s what would be the coolest weapons a squad of government agents could collect to fight criminals with?

Doesn't have to be necessarily historically accurate in the sense of "the actually used these weapons" rather more what would be feasibly available for them to acquire at the time?

I'm thinking of running a pen and paper game set around that time and want some accurate guns to use and information about them.

Tommy gun.
>>
>>32092962
Well obviously that, as well as a 1911 pistol.

What was the go to shotgun for pulling out of the patrol car's trunk back in that era?

What kind of revolver was most common among the police force back then? I'm not a revolver guy so I don't know much about them.

I don't know much about older guns, sorry. However I think 16 gauge shotguns were the go to back then instead of 12 gauge.

Did anyone in America actually use a Madsen? How common were they at the time?
Would it be better than a BAR for suppressing fire purposes or would it just be a cool looking gun to have?
What's that crank on the side for? Did it like gatling gun or something?

Never shot one. Used a 20 gauge to shoot pigeons tho, worked well.

Not clay pigeons either. One guy would tap a corn silo and we'd open up on them as they scattered. Fed the dead pigeons to barn cats. It's fun, and I'm not even a redneck.

Remington Model 8.

Semi-auto with 10, 15 or 20 round mags chambered most commonly in .30 Remington, a load roughly equivalent to 7.62x39 or 30-30. It was popular with both hunters and law enforcement, but was later replaced by 30-30 with hunters and with WW2 surplus with police/feds. Basically, it was an early "assault rifle" that never really caught on.

>No one in the thread mentioned the Registered Magnum

It was the first gun made specifically for .357, and it remains one of the best of them ever made in the entire world even today. Every single gun was the 1930s equivalent of a custom/semi-custom 1911 today, in that each gun was made according to the buyer's individual specifications and that each gun was made of top-shelf materials by master craftsmen. They were expensive though--they cost more than 1/10 of what a nice new car did, back during the height of the Depression.

>>32093199
If you're the OP, there are some things you should consider:

>1911
They actually did not see widespread use among law enforcement back then, which makes sense if you have ever fired a historic one. Old school 1911s had 7-9+ lbs triggers, were roughly fit and finished, and only held 7+1 rounds. They were better than revolvers if you needed a gun that was easier to manufacture and resistant to boots abusing it, which is why the military adopted it, but, for everyone else in the uniformed services, revolvers were what they went with.

>What was the go to shotgun for pulling out of the patrol car's trunk back in that era?

Winchester Model 1897

>What kind of revolver was most common among the police force back then?

Colt Police Positive or Smith and Wesson M&P (later known as the model 10). Both were .38 special revolvers that typically had a 4-6 inch barrel. If the government agent was a gun enthusiast or felt he needed the most firepower he could get at the time, he got the Registered Magnum mentioned above.
>>
An entire squad with these (pi related) and Enfield No. 2 revolvers.

You know I bet if Ohio Ordnance made Colt Monitor repros they'd sell better. I could damn near die happy if I could just handle one out of the sheer cool factor alone and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one. Surely at least 100 people in the US not only feel the same way but have deep enough pockets to afford such a thing. I know if I had the money and it was available I wouldn't hesitate. I don't ever see myself buying an M1918 repro.

You think a 100 orders is enough for a repro? How many originals are on the market?
>>
>>32101871
>How many originals are on the market?
I think something like 600 Monitors were ever made, so who knows how many are in circulation with people willing to sell and how many are just locked away in collections forever.

What about the 1911A1 though? Didn't that come out in like 1924?
Were those still as bad?
