I'm joining the French military soon.
I am a citizen, 20 years old, I've been lifting for 2 years so I'm reasonably fit. Aiming for a Paratrooper regiment.
Any general military advice/French military advice in particular is appreciated.
Go NCO or officer. Whatever the cirfa tell you.
Les MDR dans l'infanterie sont la lie de l'humanité.
Et bon courage.

You can just go NCO or officer? What is there some sorting hat like Harry Potter?
>>32071426
Can I still NCO if I don't have the Bac? I live in South Africa and did the English Cambridge A-levels for highschool.

MDR ?

Remember, the enemy is across the water, not in the east! Meanwhile dont look at the argonnes, the guys there are just very enthusiastic campers.

Alpine infantry > Para
make sure to pack a white flag

Is this actually true, or are you biased?

>lifting
>instead of running
Get a load at this fag.
Seriously run as much as possible if you haven't started yet, and with a loaded backpack it would be even better.
Para is shit imo since you'll train for something you'll probably never do during your career (operational parachute jumps) unless you're in the 13e RDP or the 1er RPIMA. Also don't get in a para regiment if you're of the "coloured" kind, in this case aim for a RIMA for example.
If you've got degrees >>32071426 is absolutely right, don't waste your time and start a real career, with a real "solde", while doing meaningful stuff.

Militaires Du Rang, which means more or less "private".

really surprised it took this many posts for this to come up

I know nothing of the frog military. I do know that weight lifting does not help you at all. Load a backpack and go jogging. Get calluses on your feet and accustom your legs and legs to long periods of having the shit beaten out of them. Because that's what's going to happen.
Good luck.
