Who has a fun that shoots a meme caliber here?

>Be me
>Want lever action but poorfag
>Guy I work with is selling a Marlin 336 SC
>See it
>Want it
>Buy it
>It's chambered in 35 Remington
>Find plenty of Core-lokts
>Hornady starts making Lever Revolution rounds
>Nice but they don't feed as well
>FFW 4 years - suddenly 35 Rem Core-lokts fucking vanish
>Literally cannot find a single box
>For SIX FUCKING YEARS not a single box
>See one box at a gun show the cock sucker is selling for 50 bux
>Suddenly this year, just as hunting season opens up I start seeing boxes
>Literally drive to every sporting goods store in my town buying every fucking box they have
>My brother buys all the ones in his town for me
>Now I have a few hundred, but still not enough
>Convinced I will end up dropping the rifle and breaking it now
>Too afraid to shoot it

and thats how meme rounds gave me autism

Father has a Marlin 375 in .375 Winchester. Nice gun and the .375 Winchester is one hell of a brush buster. Haven't seen a box of it in a decade or more. It's a shame that round never caught on.
>>
>>32064105
My father has an older 336 in .35 Remington, its a hell of a round. Remington only does their Core-Lokt in batches, once every two years and assume that'll hold them over.

You see them more often in places where rifle hunting is legal too, I've noticed. Looks like the demand rose so its higher production now but I can guarantee that round will all but die in the next 30 years.

Why didnt you just sell the gun and buy a 336 in 30-30. The gun wouldve paid for itself in like 650 rounds, before you even factor in what you sell the original gun for.

.450 Adams does not exist and .455 Webley is over a dollar a round now. Too cheap to buy a mini chopsaw and too impatient to wait for my reloading press. I'm cutting .45 Schofield with a dremal and full leangth resizing with a mini wood mallet in a Lee die to wild cat it.

Three down, 48 to go.

someone kill me.

I have a .450 Marlin- so I'm in the same boat. I gotta buy some ammo and brass.

With something like .35 Remington being able to reload is a lifesaver.

6.5 Carcano isn't difficult to find online, but if I want to buy some locally, there's one old guy at the gun show near me that sells it at $24 a box. which is $10-11 more than online. I would handload, but finding properly sized .267-.268 projectiles is impossible and casting lead isn't my cup of tea.
>>
>>32065714

Funny you mention 204. I was just reloading some 223 and in my batch of hornady range sourced brass I found a 204 the hard way. Fucker almost got stuck in my die. Scared the shit out me, I was like shiiit this muh fukker needs trimmed.

My .41 Rem. Mag Ruger Blackhawk was inexpensive and I bought 100s of [a Southern state] reloads in bags. It rocks, and major mfrs still make Ammo for it. Thanks, Elmer Keith -- he helped develop it for police that were underarmed with .38 spl and that found the .357 had perhaps too much recoil... Pic unrelated.

>mfw I buy every box of .35 Rem I can find

>mfw I'm up to roughly 1000 rounds unfired and 200 reloaded

Roughly 200 Rem 150gn SP, 400 Rem 200gn SP, 400 Hornady 200gn FTX
I have more .35 Rem than any other caliber.

I just shoot my reloads until the brass dies, and save the other shit for myself later.

.250-3000 Savage

I've got a Savage Model 99 in .250 and I've never shot the damn thing becasue ammo is next to impossible to find or it. The few places online I've found charge 30-40 bucks for 20 rounds and that's if they even have it in stock. I've seen match loads go for as high as 60.

Apparently it's a fantastic round to reload and reloading supplies are a lot easier to find, but I don't reload.

I only shoot 9mm, 5.56, 7.62x39 and .22lr. I'm hoping to buy a shotgun in the next few months so I'll have to start stocking up on 12 gauge too.

The most memey I'd ever get is something like .45-70 govt. I'm terrified of buying a gun I can't shoot because I can't find ammo for it. I literally never feel like I have enough of any caliber I already shoot as it is. .35 Remington looks fun as fuck though.
>>
>>32066028

>>
I shoot a FNH FiveseveN. Luckily it's not that bad for 5.7x28 $25 for 50 rounds
>>
>>32064105
my uncle gave me an fn safari mauser or however it is called, it is chambered in 6mm remington. Took me forever to find it online but I did and made a bulk order. Not using that gun unless going hunting since its hard to find.
>>
>>32064105
The meme-est round I shoot is .280 Ross. Even handloading the round is pain since the only "affordable" bullets are made by Buffalo Arms.
>>
>>32070202
.45-70 isn't hard to find. If anything it's becoming more popular, it's just expensive.
>>
.356 GNR in a Contender.
.41 magnum necked to .357 bullets.
>>
>>32064733
I don't see it dying at all. Bolt actions are great and all, but levergun fun innawoods reawakens frequently in states that are brushy and 90% of shots are 60-100 yards on white-tail, and .35 is good on elk in those conditions as well. A few people I know put their bolts back in the safe and pulled their leverguns out for deer season locally.
>>
>>32070518
I think 5.7 look very attractive to handloading with published load data reaching all the way up to 55gr bullets.
The biggest issue appears to be the lubed cases. I don't know if I would not tumble them (making the deciding factor of case life the lube) or if I would tumble then relube somehow.
>>
>>32070731
Leverguns are objectively worse than bolt actions in practically every way, but lever actions are fine. But .35 Remington is twice as expensive as .30-30 and almost on-par with .45-70, which are really the only two super popular lever action rifle cartridges anymore.

Marlin and Remington are both owned by Freedom Group, which is fueled entirely by money alone and have no interest in keeping a cartridge they can't sell. The only production .35 Rem that exists is the 336 and they've dropped it as a main offering anymore.Once that fades away we'll see it shrivel to minuscule offerings from custom cartridge companies like Hornady and Norma.
>>
>>32066606
It's a necked down .222 right?

It's a really fun caliber. The bullet gets downrange so quickly you can see the bullet impact before the gun recoils. It barely kicks but with an 18x scope any movement can throw you off.
>>
Speaking of non-mainstream claibers, how is ammo availability for .260 and .22-250?

I'm looking at a Tikka T3, and rifles chambered in those calibers are the cheapest.
>>
7.5 Swiss is not easy to find at the store and gp11 is seemingly drying up. Kept all my (~100) gp11 brass even though it is berdan primed, in hopes of being able to figure some solution, possibly boxer conversion. Don't have enough hornady brass from hunting rounds to merit even considering a batch of reloads... yet.
Still need a Redding k31 die. Bought a Lee on sale before doing my research. Anyone with a k11 looking for a die?
>>
>>32071525

Don't think I've ever seen .260 (plenty of .270) but most places I've gone into have had .22-250.
>>
>>32064105
> finally found an original FN model 1900

>>
>>32071583
I've also never seen .260 here, which is why I'm asking.

I see tons of .22-250 but I never really hear people talk about the round.
>>
>>32071559
I think RCBS also makes a proper k31 die too.
>>
Sure a lot of bitching from people who have commercial ammo available.
Try having something chambered in an actual rare caliber.
>>
>>32071566

You ARE a dumb 18 y/o
>>
>>32071908
What I see is people who don't want to get into handloading but want their rare rounds to be the same price as something like .308 win.

90% of what I shoot is either uncommon to not in commercial production. I got into handloading as a necessity.

How are its ballistics? I see rifles chambered in them, but I don't know anybody who owns a rifle in the caliber. Would it be suitable here in Texas?
>>
>>32072040
My issue is that there is not too much information on how to do it (not that it will stop me from t). My guess is the process will be something akin to the process used for 276 Pedersen.

>>
>>32072186
What are you planning on shooting with it?
It is a great caliber for long range plinking, coyote hunting, and smaller deer game. Too small for Elk and the like
>>
>confusing meme rounds with fudd and surptism rounds
>>
>>32072256
Hogs, deer, coyotes, other small-medium game. I'm in Texas, but I move every year or so throughout the South.

First hunting rifle, but I'm wondering if the ballistics are worth it over a .223/5.56, or if I should go with something like .243 or
308.
>>
My favorite AR is chambered in 6.5 Grendel
>>
>>32072289
Vs a .223, roughly the same grain bullets will be going about 800 - 1000 FPS faster.
That's pretty significant.
Up to you, really. I would stray away from 243, but any of your other suggested calibers would fit the bill pretty well.
>>
>>32072344
I really want a "step-up" from my quintillion .223/5.56 rifles, but .22-250 looks promising albeit boring(?) I guess. It's hard to describe, .308 feels a bit more satisfying to shoot, but it almost feels like overkill for what I'm planning to do.

How meme is .32ACP? Prices online vary from $9.99-19.99 a box; locally it's closer to $30 a box for shitty US ammo that won't feed right in euro guns.
>>
>>32072381
308 is a little overkill for what you are planning to do, so you're in the right frame of reference. I would do it, 22 250 isn't that snowflake to ignore
>>
I have an old heirloom needlefire revolver in a safe at my dad's place. I have literally no idea what the ammo for it even looks like and the owners manual disintegrates every time you look at it... and it's in French so fuck that.
It looks like you could fit a shorter firing pin to it and use like a de-rimmed .32 short but I'm not sure I trust the barrel.
How's that for maymay caliber?

it's a needle fire stupid it fires paper cartridge
>Step 1 measure your barrel (and its groove if any)
>Step 2 get round lead ball to size and slightly smaller
>Step 3 measure your cylinder chambers
>Step 4 measure lenght of extended needle
>Step 5 aquire cigarette paper rolls, you know the rolls and large one for 420 purposes (no blunts) in large quantity
>Step 6 : buy large type (inline) muzzle loading primers or any non smokeless very large primer
>Step 7:cut a dowel the width of your cilinder chambers
>Step 8 : roll some paper tube around the dowel
>Step 9Take paper tube put bulle on one side, primer on the other and powder in between
>Step 10crimp the paper by hand
>Step 11 lube bullet
>Step 12 load & fire

Are you aware that people did this while under fire... and had smallerp rojectile in case of barrel fouling.

You've never gone through a full class with a .40. Glock grips aren't even that hard textured and my pinky had a callous that almost bled. I like snappy guns too, makes them more fun to shoot, but this is about performance. The caliber doesn't do enough to justify the recoil and lost capacity.

Nice trips. But I read somewhere that of the couple major types of needle fire guns almost none of them can be shot today because they used really soft open-face percussion caps so they wouldn't bend the firing needle. Metal primers would be too hard. Otherwise yes. You'd just have to measure down the proper length and hopefully get the right depth to set the primer to. And use like a third the powder you usually would because the cylinder and barrel are like 180 years old.

>>32072381
.22-250 is great, but it isn't a great hunting round. It's great for varmints, wouldn't be horrible for coyotes and the deer in Texas (they tend to be on the smaller side, right?). When you say you want a "step up" what do you mean exactly? If you want to get into .22-250 and the only benefit/reasons being you want to get a tack-driver/varmint gun and want to get into reloading.
>>
>>32077313
So you read French needle fire revolver and assume a rare Austrian Dreyse rather than an incredibly common mistake in nomenclature.
