Idk if you overpaid or not, but go for PSA next time. This is a good start tho annon. Throw on some mbuis and get some pmags or lancers. If the hexmag works then keep it obviously but they aren't the most reliable.

You did normal? Lol. Congratulations on your first ar. Core15 has a good warranty but their build/qc is dpms quality. Hex mags work just fine. I have put plenty of rounds down range with my hex mags.

Clean your rifle and inspect a few things. Take your stripped carrier and feel how they did with the gas tube mating into the key. (Look this up on YouTube if you don't know how). Then when she's all put back together or you can do this first, just before the upper and lower mate but you can still see the buffer face with a light, make sure the carrier pushes the buffer face back enough to have a visual gap between the face and the retainer.

How's the staking on the castle nut? Staking on the carrier key?

No it's not the only important consideration. Considering the fact that the actual hardware being used for accessories (1913 rails) is the exact same, either one will still be functional. Faster isn't important, it's simpler. It takes less time for the user and has the same utility as QD sling mounts. They aren't an absolute necessity, but their advantages aren't irrelevant either.

Hex mag came with it, I already got 10 Omaha for a great deal before the election just in case. I'd like some mbuis, but I have a vortex diamondback 3-12x40 I might throw on it. Key mod wasn't by choice, just what comes on it. I wanted a free float handguard out of the box, so its a trade off
