There's a lot of options which are essentially just metal tubes with threads, they can be had for pretty cheap, but they don't exactly do anything.

Surely these are easy to make? I want one to cover the exposed barrel on my "can't have an SBR" gun, but all the real ones cost 70 bucks!

They're usually only seen on imports to make up the ATF points here in the US, or to lengthen what would be a Short Barrel Rifle for NFA reasons. They're usually pinned and welded to make them compliant. Pic related had the fake can attached to allow for US import. Beretta 71.

It's literally just a steel or aluminum tube, bored out and threaded. The jewing is real on some prices, but the demand is kinda low as well.

Griffin Armament makes a couple nice looking detachable ones. They also do reduce the sound reaching the ear a bit by throwing it forward.

Faux cans, from what I know about them, are solid and only feature a narrow pathway for the bullet to travel. An empty can with holes on either side that is ready to accept baffles would still be considered a suppressor (even if an unfinished one) i.e. constructive intent.
