Hi /k/. I'm in New York and want to build a non-cuck AR.

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

Hi /k/.

I'm in New York and want to build a non-cuck AR. This would be a violation of the NY SAFE act.

How fucked am I?

This is the list I would use to build aforementioned weapon.

This was my inspiration.

Would it be a better idea for me to buy one of these in Florida rather than make one myself?

What is that buttstock?
I need this in my life.

You can buy this kit from Daniel Defense for just $115. I would actually need to find a different billet lower, probably from BANE, since the DD grip comes with an integrated trigger guard.
>>
>>32007387
You a NY resident?
What's your plan for the background check?
>>
>>32007450
The only portion of an AR-15 (within my knowledge) that needs to be cleared through an FFL is the lower.

A stripper lower is not inherently banned. An AR-15 in NY only becomes illegal upon the inclusion of more than 1 assault rifle characteristic. Basically, you pick either pistol grip or a detachable mag.

This is an example of a NY SAFE act compliant AR-15 with a detachable mag.
>>
>>32007337
Barrel has to be bare and no removable parts on the end so no "flash hiders" weird end I saw some modified fn 308 semis I did not recognize that seemed viable as ny battle rifles
>>
>>32007464
Or flash hider or bayonet lug or collapsible stock

Why not just go with a mini-14?

>>32008124
Those were the first wave we are getting better options but yes law is fucktarded. Up end we will eventually come up with amazing non pistol grip ban resistant options for the next round of nonsense
>>
>>32007478
I think im gonna be sick...
>>
>>32008193
The fuck outta here in they work and we would be without ar in stores of they didn't step up and give a big fuck you to the safe act besides. ..... the aks got it worse
>>
>>32007331
Good luck shooting it anywhere, especially in an urban environment
That being said, there's nothing stopping you from making it, so long as you keep it quiet
>>
>>32007437
Daniel defense. I got one on sale and it is fucking great
>>
>>32007331
Likely multiple felony charges if you take it to a public range and someone gets fishy/reports you. You can always make one with evil features and have a "fixed mag". That way it's 100% legal to take to a range and own but if you desire you can swap mag releases easily.

>>32007464

Or you can decide not to go semi-auto and get a NY legal pump action AR-15 with scary features.
>>
>>32008369
They're just going to ban that within a year or so also.
>>
Not cucked at all.

Stripped lower isnt an assault rifle since lol featurless. Buy the rest online or in stores (DDs Ranch in WNY) and just shoot it anywhere cuz local leo dont give two fucks about the law. How can they tell if you were one of the people who registered or not and they cant really look it up if you are since the database never got did afaik.

Dont make it harder than it is. If youre in WNY you are fine broseph
>>
>>32008430

Disclaimer: dont break the law son, my post is purely hypothetical
>>
>>32008430
There's a database for the "assault weapons", it's the ammo database that never got made. But yeah, in a lot of upstate NY most local LEO won't care too much, but you never know there might be one guy who wants to book you if he sees you with an unregistered baby killer.
>>
>>32008379

>implying they don't go full Massachusetts and ban all semi-autos.

Also why not get two lowers, one semi upper and one pump action upper? Put the semi upper on the unmutilated lower when you want to not give a fuck, but keep both otherwise so they can't nail you on constructive intent for the time being.

This is my NY compliant AR, just go to ARmaglock.com
>>
>>32008468
If NY is anything like NJ just having the ability is construed to be intent to break the law. As such it is equally as illegal.
>>
>>32008485
Is that AR hanging in space like a corgi? Perspective! My eyes!
>>
>>32008526
Please notice the welcome mat
>>
>>32008485
Didnt the state police say they were no bueno?
>>
>>32008551
Most gun stores sell them like that still so I assume they're still 100% legal. The mag isn't removable so it doesn't fall under the assault weapon laws.
>>
>>32008604
Bullet buttons specifically are a no-go but these are kinda gray area but you need to pull the rear takedown pin to pop the mag so it counts in my mind, I also didnt buy it like that, its an 80% lower built on Palmetto kits
>>
>>32008757
space/10
>>
>>32008769
>>32008757
Main benefit is no more bullet button.

Here's the non-CA/NY compliant one.
>>
>>32008757
that is actually pretty good, i'm surprised there aren't more ascetically pleasing SAFE ARs
>>
>>32008789
Probably will see more in 2017, now that Californian gun owners need some kind of alternative to bullet buttons. We have til 2018 to get featureless stuff.
>>
>>32008757
Where the hell do you put your thumb?
>>
Do what I do and lose your guns in frequent boating accidents.
>>
>>32008757
>>32008787
Thumbhole stocks are illegal in NY state. Sorry, you won't win.
>>
>>32007478
no uglier than a stock ar imo
get a nugget
>>
Why comply?
>>
>>32008869
I'm not that guy, but, the top one doesn't have a thumbhole stock. There are other cucked ars here where a milspec pistol grip has a flat piece of plastic going to the back of the stock so you can't grab the grip like normal.
>>
>>32008124
>it hurts
>t. Olive
>>
>>32009065
Eyemullofmuhsheen
>>
>>32008900

Filling in the tumbhole does relegate it to eye-gouging ugliness, unfortunately.

I might see a way to make it NY compliant, though. If the stock had a gap that ran the entire length underneath the buffer tube, and the buttpad also did not make contact with the tube, then it would still retain the thumbhole aesthetic without actually being one.

In other words, do what >>32007478 does, but actually giving a shit to make it look good and not like bent PVC pipes.
>>
>>32009159
No argument here. Not only is it retarded looking, it looks worse knowing that it's the law forcing you to have that stupid shit on your gun.
>>
>>32008845
You can't have a pistol grip in Cali, hence the plate blocking the thumb see>>32009159 >>32008900
>>
>>32009335
You can't even wrap it over the top as in a Monte Carlo.
>>
>>32007331
if you don't register it you're fine.... do it faggot
>>
>>32007337
>spending $200 on a rail when you can just get a polymer handguard for $30
if you're going to poorfag at least poorfag properly
>>
>>32008485
is that a dagger defense red dot?
>>
>>32008038
But no buffer
>>
>>32008485

Maglocks are dodgy since technically you can take the mag out once you open the takedown pin.

ddsranch sells one that you need to unscrew, so it is a bit more defensible. $25?

My LGS actually makes their own fixed mag kit, just google JFS-AR kit. They are on long island. Its expensive though. Again you need to unscrew with a hex key, it comes with an extended takedown pin for easy access.

I have the same urge as you OP but I will be safe and make it fixed mag. You can swap it out in 5 minutes if SHTF. Some people say you need to use epoxy or loctite but there isnt anything in the law requiring permanence, and just putting a fixed mag release shows a good faith attempt to obey the law, imo.

Right now I only have a nycuck AR with the thordsen stock as my HD gun. But I really want actual AR aesthetics.

Couldn't you get an Ares SCR and stick whatever upper you like on it?
>>

I dunno, does dagger defense sell the sale red dot as airsoft sites do?
>>

just looked similar to this

That ain't legal.
>>
>>32010164
Yeah then it is, I'm pretty sure they're all the same red dot just branded by different companies
>>
>>32010178
Then buy the Ares lower, whatever upper and then get a non threaded barrel, dumbfuck.
>>
>tfw long island

No way id risk taking an evil one out. I want to build a fixed mag one but im still terrified to take that out.

I thought about getting that, but at the same time I could get a rear iron for the same price and not have a shitty red dot
>>
>>32010281
STAY AWAY from that US contractor bullshit. Had one of their barrels put on my 74, and it routinely seizes up after a mag. casing will not extract unless you put a rod through the barrel and hammer it out. shit bro, any other barrel would be better than this garbage.
>>
>>32010236
Didn't they discontinue the SCR though? It's been sold out everywhere for a few months.
>>
>>32010304
I was told Ballistic Advantage barrels were much better
I'll be getting the upper from PSA just because it's a bit cheaper
>>
>>32010304
>>32010327
is the gas tube/block fine? I don't think there's too much of a difference between no name stuff and branded
>>
>>32010373
Everything else is Bulgarian, all good. prob gonna buy a Green mountain barrel and shove it on there or get someone to do it for me.
>>32010327
this is on an AK74, so it might be a bit different. have PSA and green mountain barrels on my AR's both are great and both are around that price. I think the GM is a bit better though, it's a 10in and it shoots slightly better than the 16in PSA.
>>
>>32008485
O jesus why did you have to show me this.

Gonna be buying myself some of that for xmas
