Trump's gun views and proposed changes.

I know there will be 50 state reciprocity on Concealed carry, airplanes still no, doesnt bother me honestly.

will he abolish the NFA?
suppressors are legal?
machineguns are legal?
I'm so getting a 240G.

legal suppressors is extremely likely as he's talked up the "Hearing Protection Act"

But that act is designed to remove suppressors from the NFA, not abolish the NFA, so that might be saying something, it might not.

I live in Cuck Jersey (we don't have cc)..

With all Trump's talk about state's rights being important and also mentioning nationwide concealed carry how would it affect my communist homeland?

I work in the capital (Trenton, NJ) and it's literally a warzone and I fear for my life every day. CC in NJ would be a godsend for me.. but would our blue legislature (and likely next governor being blue) be able to override national concealed carry?

Could it go before the Supreme Court?
>>
>>31997263
Live in NJ too, would also like to know.
>>
>>31997283
It would be incredible.

Maybe Trump's win can spill over for the next Governor's race and hopefully the Dems will lose some seats in the legislature.

I think only 20% vote in those elections so Republicans really need to rally. It's possible.

If Christie leaves (or gets impeached) I think that gives Guadagno a good shot.. but I'm not too sure how she feels about 2A rights.
>>
>>31997263
>How will it affect
Depending on how the law is written, nothing to giving y'all shall issue. On the nothing side, NJ is simply forced to accept CC from other states. Nothing about them having to allow their citizens to acquire one.

>Can state override national CC?
Basically yes. There is a reason why you can smoke pot in CO even though it's a federal crime to do so. Your state could potentially pull similar shit.

>Go to Supreme Court
Lets say worse case, NJ doesn't allow you to have a CC. Right there you could potentially go to the Supreme Court on the argument that the state of NJ is denying you the right to bear arms. That was the core of the Heller decision. They had a handgun ban, bad shit happened, it made it to court, based Scalia was based, and bearing arms was reaffirmed as an individual right.
>>
>>31995950
>will he abolish the NFA?
yes, go look up Donald Trump Jr. Silencerco interview

His whole campaign was "political suicide" and he's laughing his way all the way to the oval fucking office.

Maybe he doesn't care about being a career politician. Maybe he doesn't care about being elected to a second term. Maybe he plans on going balls to the wall for the next four years to absolutely shit on the legacy of 6 decades of "progressivism".

In short get hyped

expect
NFA rewrite; including
MG registry reopened speculation based on things Trump and surrogates have said its not the federal governments job to regulate firearms used for personal defense

>implying
SBR, SBS, AOW dropped from nfa
Suppressors treated as a firearms (see hearing protection act)
Deregulation and rollback of so called "armor piercing" ammunition bans based on it use in pistols and other various defacto bans from the ATF.
50 state reciprocity

That's about it for the moment. With the NRA writing legislation i would be cautiously optimistic about import bans. Due to domestic firearms manufacturer protectionism.

TLDR; 10/10 victory for second amendment advocates and supreme ass blasting for no funs

I foresee CCW Reciprocity (thank god. I travel out of state 7 months out of the year for work and end up in Minneapolis and the Chicagoland a lot and I feel naked there) and the HPA getting passed but the AP ban, MG registery, and SBR/SBS/AOW/DD staying in place. While things are getting better there are still too many fudds around who have the ears and the wallets of the Replicans and the NRA

COME TO PA MY GUN BROTHER, WHERE YOUR VOTE ACTUALLY MATTERS!

What might happen with 50 state carry is, you apply for an out of state license, then NJ is forced to accept it. This would definitely end in a supreme court ruling as NJ would hate this, but since the court is going to be leaning red... you might just be ok.
>>
>>31998673
hopes and dreams really. Would be nice if machine guns were legal again, but I agree, probably not happening.

I think the most likely laws to be passed will be 50 state carry and Hearing Protection act.

I'll take anything honestly. So tired of being on defense with guns, time to gain some ground.

>Be NJ, they don't recognize non-resident permits from states that issue both a resident and non-resident CCL
>But since they are forced to recognize resident CCL's they are potentially following the new nationwide reciprocity law(s)
>Now NJ still can't carry

For example, IIRC Colorado has a stupid law that makes it so they don't recognize Iowan non-resident permits, but they do recognize each others resident permits.

As in I'm an Iowan resident and got my Iowan PCW (Permit to Carry Weapons). Now I go to Colorado and they will recognize my PCW since I have the resident version. On the other hand if I had gotten the non-resident (Iowan) version they wouldn't recognize it.
>>
>>31995950
What's with everyone pushing concealed carry reciprocity all of a sudden? A few years ago I would regularly here people saying they were weary of it because the federal government getting involved in concealed carry could eventually result in stricter standards getting forced onto states, and now people seem to have almost completely stopped caring about that issue. Not to mention not having national concealed carry reciprocity affects relatively few gun owners when compared to most other federal gun laws. I would much rather go after SBR restrictions or something else that is relatively easy to sell compared to saying their state should have to recognize permits from other states with lower standards.

Huh, I didn't realize that. I just checked and you're right. We don't have a non-professional PCW for non-residents.

For those interested you can still get a professional, but your job has to require it.

All the people that care are currently busy screaming "not muh president" and defecating in the streets already, so there's practically no harm done if he were to lift the ban on modern automatics.
>>
>>31997404
Actually CO, CA, etc. aren't technically allowed to make weed legal, it's just that the government has agreed not to prosecute in those states. Federal law trumps (no pun intended) state law, so states can make laws harsher but not weaker.

AFAIK the idea that Trump himself can force states to become shall-issue is a total fantasy. Only the Supreme Court could do that, by ruling that it's a constitutional right.

Yeah, just saying that it's not going to happen fast, and not through any direct action from Donald. Somebody's gotta start a case and work it up to the court, then a ruling has to happen, and then there'll be inevitable fighting and foot dragging at the state level for a few years, so I wouldn't be surprised if his first term is up before we see anything actually happen.

On the other hand, Trump has made it clear that he doesn't give a fuck about how the constitution says the government works, and he's got both houses on his side, so maybe they'll figure out some way to just ram it through.

I'm sorry, but I always feel like this is the characteristically out-of-touch /k/ opinion. I give it about a 0% chance that Americans can ever buy an LMG or SMG with typical firearms restrictions and commodity prices ever again. Can you imagine what would happen if a few ISIS operatives got those and posted up in a club or concert venue? Send the Trump administration a letter with what you'd like to see happen regarding gun control. Abolish NFA? Repeal Hughes Amendment? Reciprocity?

https://apply.ptt.gov/yourstory/

Also we should all join the NRA or other, arguably better gun rights advocate groups now and keep the momentum.

Never rest, the opposition is regrouping, rethinking, and replacing their next move. Don't doubt it, they are going away yet.
>>
>>31999875
The NFA will stay unless a major challenge hits after he's put 2 noms in the supreme court.
Suppressors off NFA, SBR is a possibility, Hughes lifted, the most important thing he's going to do is drastically reduce turnaround time and simplify the process.
We'll probably also see a lifting against individual state NFA bans when an assault weapon case comes up (guaranteed) and the court holds that states cannot restrict more than the fedgov allows
