why is the Stryker armored car shaped like a boat if it doesn't swim? is it a victim of feature creep, like the Bradley?

Emergency fishing acquisition device.

wasn't it to deflect blasts from IEDs and rockets?

>i don't understand how deflection works
it's to maximize the amount of armor you need to penetrate through to get inside. this is why tanks are sloped as well.
with that configuration if you hit from the front you either have to hit that tiny little flat section or you're going to have ricochets or just simple failures to penetrate. it's also slightly angled on the sides for the same reason.

so why are the only cars shaped like this amphibious?
>>31990108
It's to reduce the blast effects from mines and IEDs.
because it was based on the Piranha and the LAV III, which both have amphibious options. If they were designing a new vehicle, there would be much better geometry for armor arrangement than having a fuckhuge lower glacis. if they wanted something that could resist IEDs, they would make something with a V-hull, and probably something without tires too, rather than this abomination that is such a Lovecraftian horror it has driven people in two different instances to become a serial killer and mass murderer.

Lol another case of America stealing Intellectual Property Rights. I bet some other tech is stolen from the Chinese. The F-35 maay even be upgraded with stolen superior Chinese photonic radar.

because that shape also helps with parting water you daft cunt, and no a ton of cars are shaped like this. have you ever looked closely at a Puma, or a VBCI, or even a Dingo 2? do you know why warships have a general maximum speed of 50 knots or so? it's the resistance of the water. if they were shaped like boxes they wouldn't get to even half of that without being 99% engine.
are you a reddit transplant or something?

>they would make something with a V-hull
this was introduced to the stryker

>why is the Stryker armored car shaped like a boat if it doesn't swim?
Because they mindlessly copied BTR-80 who can.
>>31990108
Because it has derived from an amphibious vehicle retard
