Well, you start with one gun and shortly after that you'll find you have a safe full of them. If he gets an arsenal to begin with, within a week he won't be able to get into his house. I started off with a 20 gauge, and then a 12 gauge showed up, and before you knew it there was a .410 and a .22 rifle. Any hazguns should know what I'm talking about.

An "Arsenal", at least in the personal sense, should always consist of at least: one rifle, one shotgun, and one handgun, plus some ammo.

For the rifle, I would recommend you buy the cheapest milsurp rifle that you can. An SKS or an Enfield can be had for around $350 if you do some looking. A mosin is also acceptable if your standards are lower.

For the Shotgun: Maverick 88, no doubt. You can get one for like $200 dollars if you look.

For the pistol: I would reccomend something midsized so you could carry it. With this budget I'd look for a Ruger LC9 or LC9s. Both can be found around $350. spend remaining budget on ammo

An example arsenal could look something like this:

>100 rds. 9mm ($30)
>80 rds. 7.62x39 ($30)
