I imagine something like this would be way, way fucking more impressive if it was squeeze-bore and dropped it down to like 5mm at the muzzle. That way no special snowflake grenade ammo that will destroy your AK, the powder gets burned, and you get something that does the job a bit better.

Rifle powder burns slower to maximize velocity out of a longer barrel, pistol powder burns faster to maximize velocity out of a shorter barrel.

pistol powders are fast burning to impart the most energy they can in short barrels, rifle powders are slower burning to give the maximum velocity with the the minimum pressure possible over the length of a long barrel. when you shoot a rifle round out of a short barrel you tend to get a fireball from powder that didn't contribute to the velocity of the round, or even unburnt powder in front or where you were shooting. while it sounds like a lot of oomph out of a small weapon in most cases you'd be better off with a pistol round.
