Sup /k/,
Commiefornia LAfag here.
Is an AR-15 a practical firearm for home defense, specifically apartment defense? I live in an apartment like most LAfags, and i have a nugget because poorfag. I'm about to pop 1k and i feel a nice 9mm pistol would be more efficient during such a situation. In a SHTF scenario carrying an AR-15 would be very awkward, i feel like a pistol would be better and much more low profile. I fucked my car up a year ago. How would i go about transporting this thing to the range. I feel like i may have played myself.
What do you guys think?
Apparently hollow point 5.56/.223 has even less tendency to overpenetrate than most pistol calibers. This makes it very good for urban environments.

Being in California, your best bet is either a decent pistol or a shotgun. Preferably a KSG.

But what about accessibility and speed? Most apartments here are pretty small, so I'll need to have a few seconds to react. I think i would feel more confident on speed by having a pistol as a primary nightstand weapon than a rifle.
I'd be inclined to go 9mm before anything, with a ccw, and go from there. Especially considering you're in an apartment. Rifle just isn't going to be first. Stock up on ammo, and mags, before everything else. Then look into prepping and get out of the city if you can. Pistol case inside a backpack should do you for transport until ccw

I don't have time to really build one. I rather just buy one. Plus i put one on layaway, if i back out that's a $300 cancel fee. *facepalm*

I jumped on buying an AR due to next year's new CA laws, I'll admit it was more of a panic buy. I'm probably just having buyers remorse, but humbly wanting to flex muh rights.

building one takes an hour or two
you can literally just watch video instructions on youtube and do it
sorry to hear about the layaway

What would be a good, practical inexpensive 9mm pistol? I may just use a pistol for hone defense and keep the raifu locked for SHTF. It's hard to get a conceal carry permit in LA unless you're a cop or security work.
Im going from full old school fudd to straight tacticool.

I also failed to mention i don't want to wait to order, search, send to FFL, etc. I might buy a pistol off Armslist since they're cheaper.
>>31983013
you got ten rounds, and since you can't get a sbr. i recon you should get a .556 pistol, got the same range as a normal pistol, get a cheek thing, duct tape it up when shit hits teh fan and you have a sbr
>>31983013
also whats the obession with 9mm, without a primary, with a hand gun as a primary i'd say a .45 (shit i'd say a 10mm but most people are pussies) .45 with a conversion kit to carbine, leave it in carbine form.

Not an obsession, just a preference.
I'm just used to shooting 9mm rounds.

>Great i only get 10 shots
>Actually comes with a Magpul 9 round mag
>Coming across a grandfather 30 Round Magpul magazine
Fucking California, ironically everyone out here is panic buying guns now and totally throwing their old opinions on gun control out the window. It's a funny yet sad irony.

Cheap guns

This is all ball rounds but he might have made one for hollow points.

.45, just in case.

When Trump gets sworn in, you can bet your ass there will be more riots in blue states. Fucking retards, why riot and protest IN YOUR OWN CITY AND STATE THAT WENT BLUE?!?!

>kek-tec
If you're buying a kel-tec, OP, be sure to shoot it a bit before purchasing it.
If they refuse to let you try it (charging you is expected), don't buy it.

That's going to be a hard choice to make, LA is pretty much home.

I've actually shot one since lots of my buddies served. I like it but i'm not really looking that particular rifle, plus they're fucking expensive out here. I was even trying to get a FN P90 SEMI variant but no luck. Since people are panic buying, the prices have gone up on most long guns.

AR15 is fine. If it's too late to cancel without fee then just go with it. Otherwise buy Live Free Armory LF556.
