SVD scopes are exceptionally shitty. A 400 dollar Walmart scope has better sight picture and clarity. And seeing as the SVD has a proprietary scope mount it makes nigh impossible to mount a proper hunting scope to it. And the iron sights are even shittier. The barrels are thin, far thinner than most bolt gun barrels and being as it fires a round equivalent in power to about a 30-06 that makes for exceptionally shitty barrel harmonics.

You can slap an average scope on a bargain price M14 and have a better rifle.
