How was a 112 lb severely autistic kid able to shoot into a school with well over 40 lbs of gear and kill 26 people in 6 minutes?

I'm infantry and there are only a handful of people in my platoon I would genuinely believe could accomplish that. I'm not special forces or anything, but in conversations I've had, I was told there's no way someone without pretty good firearms training and tactics could have pulled that off, let alone a kid who could barely tie his own shoes.

>shoot line resource officer
>standard procedure for school shootings is to stay in classrooms and lock doors
>shoot off locks

At that point it's literally fish in a barrel until the police storm the place an hour and a half later. At newtown there were several cops on scene but didn't enter because procedure is to wait for SWAT IIRC.

>How was a 112 lb severely autistic kid able to shoot into a school with well over 40 lbs of gear and kill 26 people in 6 minutes?
There was a flaw in the school's security system that required the janitor to lock the doors from the outside, he wasn't there and so the kids piled on top of each other in unlocked rooms.

Vidya training, "bun free zone" level defenseless targets, panic/shock preventing effective response by the targets no one expects that shit to actually happen to them and they deny reality for 5 seconds then theyre dead

How long does it take to empty a 30 round mag and reload? How many shots realistically does it take to kill a cornered fear frozen target? How many way are there out of a classroom when a dude with a rifle is blocking the door?

And I'm saying all this as a /manygunz/, safe act fucked me out of some of my favorite rifles in NY.

You're trained to fight against trained, dispersed alert men. He was targeting panicked fear frozen sheep in a trap.

Autistic kid here; in short we can gain the autistic strength of ten men whenever we call upon it. I myself can outrun someone while in full M81 gear if I so desire, and can push myself to the very limit. It's almost like not having a limiter on however you use your strength. This goes for eyesight and mental capability, too. If I put myself in the right mindset, I can just about trample the competition in mostly anything skill based.
>>
>>31970990
the same way that the port arthur massacre happened, a retarded crippled guy who literally had 10% range of motion in his arms and hands, where he had problems zipping his pants up, or tying his shoes, took a fucking AR10 and did a speedrun with mostly headshots from the hip in a time that even today has yet to be broken publically.

tl;dr he didnt.
>>
>>31970990
18 kilos is fuck all man, I weigh about 80kg and I troop a 20KG backpack all over the place

and keep in mind, that's all the gear he had to start with, I bet he wasn't shot with that much gear on him
every bullet he fire is one less he had to carry

>kill 26 people in 6 minutes
killing 26 armed and alert soldiers would be a herculean effort

but the people weren't armed
they weren't organized
my understanding is that they all locked themselves up where they couldn't run away, and he shot them one at a time as they cowered

also>>31971029
the targets concentrated themselves in a very small space for some reason, very foolish

if you want to stop this from happening
1. secure a school so it has a area that is actually defensible, basically a panic room
2. either
A. have a response plan that STOPS THE SHOOTER, not just tells everyone to wait for police/swat
armed security guards, allowing teachers to CC, having a basic armory with a few guns and a vest
B. go in the other direction and ban scary looking baby killer guns
3. practice full evacuation, if someone starts shooting; everyone should scatter
the police think "everyone needs to be in one place so we can protect them all ", which is patently foolish because by default the shooter arrives first
4. rush the shooter
I guess people are too stunned, stupid or cowardly
but if four people rush a shooter from different direction he has very little hope
>>
>>31970990
He killed babies you fucking autist. A 6-7 year old child is incapable of fighting back and simply would not survive a gunshot. They aren't fast enough to be a hard target to hit even given their size.

If you believe this took some superior skills or tactics then that explains why you are in infantry.

Well there's your problem. Now dont forget that 500 word essay on why you shouldnt rape someone is due for the SHARP briefing tomorrow.
>>
>>31971617
I mean this guy was shooting little kids, they had no chance

if the public is generally unarmed then maybe teachers should be as well

but if the public is armed, why in the hell are teachers not?

at the very least there should be a locked gun safe somewhere in a school
even better would be a remote lock that the police could release or some combination of unlock/distress beacon

I think it was the lockdown procedure itself that caused the most deaths, kids should have started running
>>
>>31970990
Those people were elementary school students you autist. A hit literally anywhere would've likely resulted in a kill.

You want to see a fishy shooting spree? Look up the Port Arthur massacre.
>>
>>31971010
>standard procedure for school shootings is to stay in classrooms and lock doors
This.
And it's fucking retarded too. Unless it happens to be lunch time, the shooter is going to be mighty suspicious when all the lights are out and doors locked. And the first time he jiggles the handle, I can guarantee that some dumbass kid is going to yell out, and bam. Thirty plus people are now fucked.

>>
>>31971732

Yep. We had some fucking nuts guy going through our high school with a baseball bat. It was gang related. We went on Sandy Hook style lock down, although this was a few years before Sandy Hook. They told us to hide in the corner. I already had bailed out of the open window of my classroom and took off running for the hills. Fuck that shit. Public schools are fucking retarded and in the event of someone looking to harm students they WILL succeed unless the school staff arms themselves.

If I ever have children I won't send them to a school that doesn't allow the staff to carry weapons so long as they have a state issued CCW permit.

congratulations, you beat someone in an autism contest who has actual autism

and for the record I have seen this "tard rage" on many occasions
>>
>>31971866
when I was in school we were locked down twice

the first time was in a custody dispute where a father came to "abduct" his kid, because he lost custody

second time was where a gang of kids from another school came with knives to stab someone from our school

the lockdown worked, but in both cases the threat wasn't to the general population
you could hide people not involved and be confident they wouldn't be targeted

but there is a big money issue as well
who protects students? security.
the school doesn't want to pay security, the state doesn't want to pay the school to hire security

I don't want to see teachers forced to become security guards, their job is to teach
many are too old or unfit or untrained to defend students, and they simply don't get paid enough to have that expectation put on them.
everyone should lay down their lives to defend kids, but it's not everyone; it's school staff time and time again

perhaps schools should start hiring security in integrated roles, have a security+groundskeeper

it reads a bit like "no country for old men" doesn't it, I was just reading it for the first time myself

he fires 29 rounds, killing 20, injuring 12?
firing from the hip, with so many headshots?

I have been to the island myself, and can attest to some of it
there is only one point of entry to the island (hence it being originally used as a prison)

when the shooter took the carpark, people were trapped, many not knowing what was happening and not aware there was even a threat

some tried to flee the island on foot, but since the shooter had a car he caught a number of them on the road, and nobody knew what car was the shooters

but with so many eyewitnes accounts, it's hard to believe anything radically different from the official narrative took place

if it were me I would have gone out into the water and floated around for a few hours

My mom's a teacher. Her school is brand new, all the latest in tech and design. They have Kevlar curtains they can drop on their windows, their doors are about 4 inches of hardwood over a steel core with a solid maglock deployed in emergencies, and if shit really hits the fan each classroom has a supply of bricks to throw at attackers.
>>
>>31972480
what could they do, yell out to each other and allert the shooter to their position?

when the shooter left the cafe (which he shot up in a very short space of time) it was basically a large open park
he was a good shot and nobody could cross the ground to get to him
people covered each other, tried to talk him out of it etc

he blocked the one exit to the cafe, then he blocked the only vehicle access to the area (which is reasonably remote)

at this stage, people wern't conscious of what the possibility of a shooter scenario might look like
people didn't start running when they heard the shots because they though it was a re-enactment, people even came to the shooters area looking for a show
people thought it was fire-crackers
people were afraid to escort tourists out of the area for fear of looking foolish it if was a false alarm

in australia people wern't aware these things were real threats, we've only ever had a few shootings
most people wouldn't even be sure what a gunshot sounded like
>>
>>31972609
>kevlar curtains
>bricks
tell me this is some kind of morbid joke, people being so desperate as to install such hopeless defences

good doors never go astray though, but I wonder if bunkering down doesn't just lead to fish in a barrel scenarios
seems to me bunkering down only works if an armed person can engage the shooter within minutes
an you always have the water-lock dielemma of how many people you let inside a room before you lock the door

schools should just get security guards like hospitals do
>>
>>31970990
Because he wasn't "severely autistic". Twit.

He definitely suffered from asbergers, which is autistic spectrum, but that kind of "autism" is quite different from the people /b/ likes to make fun of that can only be described as "irreversibly impaired". He also had crazy OCD, impulse issues and some sort of brain palpitation and was socially crippled, yet fiercely intelligent (the dude got into college at 16).

all things, you will note, match perfectly with an enormous number of spree or "event" killers.

>>31970990
>How was a 112 lb severely autistic kid able to shoot into a school with well over 40 lbs of gear and kill 26 people in 6 minutes?
Because it isn't hard to mass murder people. Especially elementary school students. If I walked into a sports bar tomorrow I could probably beat Breivik's high score for the simple fact that I'm not autistic, know how to use a firearm and my local sports bar has at least 100 people in it tomorrow easy.

Shit. I don't even need a gun to break the high score if I had any interest in mass murder. No one would bat an eye if I walked into my local bar with a backpack that happened to have a pressure cooker or some other IED inside of it. Let alone how easy it would be to poison the drink garnishes with a slow-acting poison because the lemons and everything else is right there on the bar within arm's reach in the early morning and I could just watch the bodies pile up throughout the day as well drinks are ordered.
>>
>>31972729
It's legit. The curtains serve double duty for tornado season. They do at least 1 drill per month on shooter emergencies. They get the kids to stack up on the door, bricks at the low ready. They'll give anyone who comes through the door a brick salad. Once the shooter is contained, they flee the building. If that isn't possible, they can use the tornado tunnels to hide.
>>
>>31972729
>schools should just get security guards like hospitals do
Won't happen because the idea of children being primary targets for mass murderers is so outlandish and cruel that people refuse to believe and event would ever happen and that children "shouldn't be exposed to guns" no matter how lawful the carry happens to be.

Any serious fire or actually-credible bomb threat is going to get a lot of people killed because what's the point of evacuating a building if you're going to then stand around directly next to said building?

>schools should just get security guards like hospitals do
Every hospital I've been in, the lone security guard (on shift) is either unarmed, or locked away in an obstructed cubicle somewhere relatively close to a main entrance with poor view outside of his bajillion security camera screens, thus ensuring he's an easy first target with little ability to respond.

Also the vast majority of them are old and obese, and the few that are actually armed with a firearm have an old 5-shot revolver that may or may not actually be loaded.

So tell me what you expect an obese geriatric with only 5 rounds and no body armor to do when a shooter gets the jump on him. Please. It'll literally just be another superfluous expense to the taxpayers for a false sense of security.

You underestimate just how soft a target a school is.

A giant herd of children and the adults who can barely keep them in line, and their only defense is "pretend you're not there".

Also, if I remember right a shitload of them piled into a bathroom to try and hide and he just dumped into them.
>>
>>31973579
Dumping into a pile of bodies in a bathroom stall...you're not going to get a 100% kill count there. Not a single person lives through the ordeal?

In every other shooting EVER where 10+ people were killed (likely 5+), there are injuries.

The fact none of these children or adults were taken to a hospital (standard paramedic procedure) is strange.

A school is a very soft target, but in every shooting you are going to have wounded. Did he grab the kids and pull them off each other? I highly doubt that happened. I also highly doubt he could shoot at 15 of them from a nearly identical angle and kill all of them without fail.

>some are playing frisbee
>some are complaining about the cold weather
>some started riding their boyfriends while out in the open with hundreds of people
>no further instructions for an hour and a half
>finally, the school security/police officer gathered attention and announced, with a loud speaker, that school is cancelled for the day
>everything else was inaudible because half of the students were cheering
>everyone was instructed to leave everything behind including their vehicles and walk over to a nearby elementary school

Turned out some kid brought a suspicious pipe bomb thing, which never went off on its own.

I was the designated Student Fire Marshall of my small private high school senior year (all caps because it actually helped land an internship once in college). They made the baseball players do it because student Fire Marshall training was held during football playoffs. Austin Fire Department told us waiting in place is a bad idea no matter what, break open a window and jump from the second floor, use whatever you can to tear through drywall and get to the next room, if worst comes to worst even use your fingernails, to never give up on escaping. I found that to be some pretty decent advice compared to my teacher's active shooter drill of duct tape the door shut and pile up books and wood as a barrier.
Then earlier this year a shooting happened .25 miles down the road at a park and my brother was fucking sending me snapchats from his American literature class saying "lmao cops are here there's a shooter in the area".
I know 1st graders are different than 17 year olds but I don't think they understand the whole "survive" instinct. If the shooter was in the school the last thing I would've seen from my brother was a snapchat mocking the situation. Young people are dumb and now they're trained to be dumb by schools. If there was a shooter in the area when I was there the first thing I'm doing is making a b line for my truck and taking as many as I can with me.
I don't doubt that this sperg lord could rack up 26 kills, but I fear that complacency will lead to a new high score for the next shooter.

You know, the funny thing is, after this shit happened /k/ actually sat down and did the fucking math on the report as to how deep the penetration would be on the stacked cords of faggot kid wood would actually be. I wish I still had that cap. Not to mention the bullshit timeline of making it to the bus drivers place BEFORE their teacher had been shot. Really activates your almonds, though.

The temptation is heavy to start a veterans/LE only security contractor with regular PT-testing and one weekend of paid training in areas like CLS, combatives, crowd control, shoot-move-communicate, and MOUT. Quals with handgun, shotgun and rifle would be done quarterly. Handgun qual would be like the Army handgun qual, rifle qual would be Alt-C, and shotgun qual would be Navy-style.

Then charge a rate competitive with G4S and enjoy.
>>
>>31976127

A weekend per month, sorry.
>>
Because in a gun free zone with stupid bureaucratic "lockdown" procedures for security and a bunch of liberals in charge who know nothing at all about self defense, much less active defense of others, I could kill dozens of people in a few minutes with a damn #2 pencil.

You know how every school has a half dozen people who are issued a radio so they get to feel all important? Do that, but with open carry. Deterrent plus effective defense.

Probably have to limit it to elementary schools, though. Once you get into public high schools the thug element makes them a bigger liability for snatching a firearm than a random crazy off the street. In that case, a school resource officer and maybe one or two burly male teachers with concealed permits would do.
>>
>>31976259

The pencil would break, don't ask me how I know.

I will truthfully and really vouch for this.

Adrenalin really does make you stronger.

Standard procedure in schools is to lock the doors and hide in a corner.
He shot up a school full of children and women who were huddled in a corner. That isn't hard to do.

Dear Sar'nt:

Rapping is bad because Army say so. I wanna be all I can be, cos I am a Army of One and now Army Stronge. Rape is bad because all them computer slides I gots to watch saying so and I can get in trouble and have to write this kind of letter.

Explaining how to do it isn't the same as doing it, nor have I expressed intent. Only that in my opinion it's not especially difficult to kill lots of people.

>>31974905
Not sure what CTR has to do with anything here. Just explaining that killing children that are centralized in a handful of places in an environment that is poorly suited to be shelter from a mass shooter is not difficult (obviously, because a retard like Lanza was able to do it).

But to digress the thing I don't understand about alt-right conspiratards is how they think that every mass shooting is a hoax. Specifically how they try to assert that no one died, it was all actors, etc. etc. Let's be clear: if the government wanted to false flag they don't need to hire actors.

They'd just shoot the people dead who needed to get shot dead.
>>
>>31980389
To add, hiring crisis actors makes the sphere of people who know about the operation larger and the more people who know about it, the more hush money you have to pay out, and the greater the possibility that someone lets the cat out of the bag either under pressure or out of guilt.

The teacher panicked, and started shoving all her students into a closet. They were shoulder to shoulder by the time Lanza got to them.
