Is buying the ported barrel version of guns worth it? They usually cost ~60ish dollars more. Is it worth it?
Of fuckin what nigga? Its like a permanent shitty compensator/muzzle brake. Are you talking like a shotgun? On shotguns its kind of like a classic and cheap recoil mitigator. On revolvers its a pretty nice compensator sometimes. On a rifle it would be fuckin stupid.

What about semiauto pistols?

depends on what type of gun, what caliber, and what you're using it for.
If it's a range gun in a caliber larger that .22 it's probably worth it if you don't mind having to wipe a little extra carbon off the outside of your gun.

So is that...gas or RDB...?

It has a guide rod installed through the center of the piston and bolt carrier, still rotating bolt.
The build thread is on akfiles somewhere

I was thinking along the lines of a 9mm carry gun.

what is a ported barrel on a semi auto? a barrel that extends past the slide that has holes in it? just get a threaded barrel and muzzle brake wtf

>a 9mm carry gun
Hell to the no. Worse for unprotected ears, awful for you night vision, and the weird angles of defense/practical shooting mean you could get serious burns from retention shots or other such awkward angles.
If you are building a competition gun or something to play around with at the range porting is worth a look, avoid it on all practical use guns.

I had assumed giving out handies behind the truckstop would build some wrist strength but if it is your livelyhood on the line then by all means port it.
