Alright, I'm getting a folding blade knife for Christmas and I'm supposed to pick one (Prime eligible on amazon if at all possible). I've worked with a few in the past but never owned more than a multitool.

I'm looking for solid body probably because in my experience the grips feel nicer, also a more classic shaped blade than the weird tactical triangle shit I've been seeing lately.

Not really concerned with bells and whistles, though I am thinking partial serration could be nice. Pic related is pretty close to the knife I'm most used to. I liked it because the body had just a bit more weight than the blade and it felt nice in hand.

Anyway, any suggestions or things to look for?
>>
Oh yeah, my main question. How much should I pay for quality? I'd like this tool to last me a while.
>>
Fyi I bought about 10 of those exact assisted-opening knives as gifts when travelling to a country where assisted opening knives are very hard to get. They seemed like very solid knives and were very well received.

If you want a fantastic price but quality up the ass..go with an Ontario RAT 1 or 2 (1 is bigger, 2 is smaller blade) great steel that holds a sharp edge, hella fast and smooth draw (mine opens faster then an auto knife or assited knife) the only downside that i have is the handle isn't made of g-10..however you can buy blank panels and cut out your own and do some crazy designs/grip patterns..and best thing is its on amazon and prime elegible ....or you can go with the cheapest of the spyderco line (tenacious g-10)

Depends on what you want. A Benchmade will run you almost $200 but is god-tier among pocket knives. Something like a Kershaw or ideally a low-end Spyderco will be almost as good for most people, and cost $140 less.

Look no further friend, what you want is a Chris Reeve Sebenza.
>>
>>31943158
low end benchmade griptillean will run you like 80-100 new depending on where you get it...imo kershaw is overpriced for what you get
>>
>>31943204
Have exact same knife. Beautiful tool, would recommend to anyone
>>
The smith and Wesson series of knives are incredibly durable and lightweight, and I believe that the first responder knife has a serrated portion. The serrated blade cuts through thick rope incredibly well in my experience.

I've got a 530 Pardue as my EDC. Fucking love the thing.

Once I can afford to I want to switch it out for a 943 Osborne.
>>
>>31943085
you have a price range op?
>>
>>31943238
Serrations are a meme. A fragile, pointless meme that's a pain in the arse to sharpen.

Just get a plain edge.
>>
>>31943238
Actually bait
>>
>>31943238
Are you fucking high?
S&W knives are fucking trash. I had an auto knife from them that the tip broke off with light use, wouldn't hold an edge due to the shitty 440 stainless, then the fucking auto mechanism broke.
I had a fixed blade by them that was similarly shit.
>>
>>31943085
Why would you want partial serration?

Spydercos are awesome, you should definitely check them out. Best ergonomics in my opinion.
>>
>>31943443
It was kind of an open question when I posted it, but as >>31943268 said they're fucking useless to sharpen as I remember, so yeah I'll probably go without. Any other comments on it and its daily uses would be appreciated.

Spyderco UKPK. They're cheap, solid and light. Should work for anything short of sperg survival camp. Don't buy anything without the choil anon it just works.

Lol.
Look at this low energy faggot! You used to spam out entire threads, and now you can only post 1 lazy bait post before you go back to jerking off to shit knives and shit loli.
Your downfall has been hilarious to watch. Even though you aren't the original tripfag, you still try. And for that: FUCK YOU

>weird tactical triangle shit

you mean Tanto blade?
>>

I have a serrated Endura which is great for chopping up cardboard. Not as fun to sharpen as my other knives but with the right tools it's doable, plus I can go pretty damn long without sharpening due to the serrations.

Serrations are better for slashing through clothing as well if you're using it for self defense.

Go full serrations or none at all, and definitely not for your first serious knife. It's nice to have in my collection but most my knives are plain edge.

Regardless of what brand you go for, you want a blade which you can easily sharpen to start out with. Spyderco's VG-10 steel fits the bill for this perfectly IMO.

>>31943204
This. Love my Benchmade North Fork, carry it 24/7. Just processed a deer with it and I can honestly say it's the best knife I've ever had the privilege to hold. And the stabilized wood is a fucking miracle.
