Are glass sights on combat rifles a viable option or does the liability of getting them caked in mud make them useful only to snipers?

I dunno, ask MAC, the only source that the US military uses for authentic pistol testing.

>Glass sights for combat rifles bad because mud
A) Pretty sure ACOG/RCO's use glass.
B) Said ACOG/RCO's are standard issue in the US military on all M16 family rifles. Only exception would be drill rifles that are kept for ceremonies and shit.
Either way, shit thread. It goes in all fields my friends.

>hey is something pretty much every Western military has had as a standard-issue item on all combat rifles for the last 20 years a viable option for combat rifles?
>hey, the US military has been using glass-lensed optics in combat for the last 13 years on almost all service weapons, including crew-served weapons. Is it actually viable?
How fucking retarded are you?

ACOG? All I ever got was an AimPoint.

When were you in? I know in 2006 that it was a mismash of things you could get, could use if you bought yourself and shit that you weren't supposed to use but I always saw people using anyway.

Then wipe them off. It's not like mud doesnt get stuck to iron sights. It's especially a bitch when it gets in your peep sight.
>>31935173
Glass is perfectly find for a battle rifle. However you should know how yo use your iron sights first.

I had an M68 on my 06 and 08 tours, and an ACOG in 09.
