RELOADING GENERAL
I want to get into reloading because Commiefornia, and I've already chosen the rig
But Idk where to find 7.62x39 brass
Or...any parts for that matter
Where's the best place or site to get shells??
We don't need another general.
Stop making everything into a general. This is how boards become terrible

Online, turners, othet gunstores, mabye gun shows, but I'm a casual. Also if the ammo ban gets majority vote then reloading is also getting the same treatment as regular ammo in up coming restriction.
>>31902357
jeez i know /k/ is autistic but do we really need a whole general just for reloading? its just pressing a button and putting a new clip in
>>31902398
Ok my bad shouldn't have typed "general"

You are doing it wrong

Good boy, very good.

Pic extremely related.
Also the new style RCBS spent primer catcher sucks an enormous amount of dicks and you're going to want to kill the person who designed it when using it, and then you're going to want to kill yourself when trying to figure out a way to empty it without spilling the spent primers and fine residue fucking everywhere.

You aren't going to save money reloading 7.62x39, if that's your goal.
Assuming you're the lucky owner of a CZ 527 and you're trying to squeeze the last bit of accuracy out of your rifle, then spring for some Sellier & Bellot 7.62x39 and keep the brass. It's boxer primed, and I know the bullets are .311, while I'm less sure about Winchester white box.

Wanted to post this pic, then wanted to post the other pic to illustrate that the rockchucker primer tray sucks. Time to go to bed.

>COMMIEFORNIA
The state I live in.
Will require an ammo buying permit and no online purchases of ammo after January first

Jesus, can you work something out with your LGS at least, as in a better deal for 2-500 rounds?
What about powder? Is that even still legal to ship online?
>>31903091
Ha ha lee wins again... straight into the scrap bucket...
/k/ , just found my grandfather's RCBS single stage press. Bought a Hornandy and Lyman's book for bullet data, as well as 9mm dies to starts.
Why do some kits come with 2 or 3 dies?
Going to buy calipers and a powder weighing scale, any recommendations?
Is there anything else I need besides casings, bullets, power, and primers?
>>31903900
the 3rd die is usually for crimping which isn't technically needed, but I say if you have it you might as well use it. It helps with consistency and is a must for auto loaders or lever-actions.
For a caliper you don't have to go with a reloader name brand. Just go with some cheap harbor freight caliper or go all the way and buy a $100 caliper.
You need some lubricants for your brass if you ever want to do rifle. 9mm should be fine if the dies you have are carbide. If not, you will need lubricant.

I usually deprime my cases before I run them through the RCBS. I don't even use the RCBS tray. There's a guy on ebay that 3D prints a better tray with a tube to drops them into the waste bucket.

> Crimp required for auto loaders
I run 65gr SGKs in my AR reloads. The bullets have no cannelure. What the heck am I supposed to crimp on, just deform the bullet?
>>31905266
If you do it right you usually just want to use the crimp die to take off any belling from the previous dies. At least that's how it is for my 9's.
>>31905266
my 125gr .308s have no cannelure either. A good crimp will be barely visible. You just want to make sure the brass has a good grip on the bullet. You don't want to deform the bullet.
TFW cleaning out the ammo closet and finding 500 primed 7.62 x 39 cases.
>>31905400
> Make sure the brass has good grip
Well, I won't need a crimp then. I to pull a bullet with a kinetic puller because my seating was a few mm too short, and holy hell was that a trial.
dont most AKs mangle the fuck out of the brass
also is it true saigas intentionally mangle the brass or is that fuddlore
>>31905693
Did you smack it against the anvil on your vice? If the surface you use has any give, even if you wail on it, you won't get much movement on the bullet.
>>31905732
some of the 7.62x39 steel cases left at the local range have split necks that have been bent in. I'd hate to see what that rifle does to a brass case
>>31906005
After a 2" thick white oak work table wouldn't work, I just started hammering it on concrete. After about 10 or more hots, it finally came out. Scratched the shit out of the puller where I was hammering it though.
>>31905732
Supposedly some companies will cut an extra shoulder in the chamber to differntiate between civilian and military models.
My Norinco has this. Too well done to simply be a manufacturing glitch. Doesn't affect reloading but the fired brass looks strange.
>>31906040
Yeah, you gotta smack it like you want to break it ... on something solid.
> or use pic related
Just loaded up 48rds of .338LM. Lapua brass, Win mag rifle primers, 89gr of H1000, 300gr berger, 2.700" COAL (because I'm a fucktard that doesn't do ogive, but i just set it and go).
>>31904156
Also helps with getting every bit of speed from light loads, a proper crimp on my .450 bullets gets it noticeably faster (shooting into 2x4s is better than a chronometer because reasons) and more consistent powder burn.
> see pic related
ahh yeah
> sub-sonic
FFFFFFUUUUUU!!!!!

> only shoot coated subs
Gay...
Is it basically H110?
>>31908182
H110, 296, and Lil'Gun are for supers. Anything more than 150gr, they're not the best powders.
1680 is better for subs. Hodgdon looks like they're filling a hole in their offerings.
>>31908216
Yeah I use H110 for the speer 125s and 1680 for my coated 203s...
>>31908262
> ditto
I use H110 and Lil'Gun for my 125gr Speer TNT and Sierra Matchkings. I haven't had much of a problem with copper fowling, but I'd like to try a powder specifically formulated for 300 BLK supers.
