I bought this bayonet at a gun show a couple months ago. I was just looking it over and comparing it to my Russian one, and this one has almost no markings.
I was told it was East German and the frog seems to be correct but from what I can see most East German ones have serial numbers and other shit?
Mine only has two markings, a "2" on the scabbard and another "2" next to the release button. Is it special? Can anyone help me ID it?

2nd marking.

Definitely east German. Lack of markings is odd though. Could be a repro, but based on a Soviet bloc knife instead of a real Soviet to make it easier to pass off as real deal.
Wouldn't doubt if it was real deal, though.

Have they really made repros of AK bayonets?

Got pictures of the other side?
Looks to me like a Yugo bayonet with EG frog.

Hopefully you can help me.
Definitely late east german. Made right at the tail end of production before the wall came down. I have one exactly like it that is unnumbered as well, and came with my East German ak74 parts kit.
Btw for future reference-
stamped or molded serial- Yugo
Electro pencil serial- german

Mine has no serial number. The thing is I'm beginning to suspect it's a Yugo since the little bump thing halfway down the scabbard is round on Yugos and straight on EG ones from what I can tell by google imaging.

It is a Yugo.
The "bump" on the scabbard would wrap around to the other side if it was EG.
That is an EG frog though.

Here's a Yugo with the number 2 mold on the scabbard.
I've never seen one without a serial stamped on it though.
It doesn't look like it was scrubbed either.

Alright, thanks. I have to wonder why mine doesn't have a serial number though. Strange.
Did they make any for export or civilian use? Why wouldn't they include a serial no. in that case?

It's possible that they were serialized to rifles and that one was never put with one.
It's definitely an oddity and a neat addition to a collection, imo.
