Is there any ship in any western Navy that could absorb a hit from a Granit?
Your mom.

The Granit isn't actually that powerful. Yeah, they're big, but they use most of their mass for propulsion. The actual warhead isn't really that big. An Arleigh Burke destroyer would probably be able to survive a hit, at least long enough for the crew to abandon ship.

>survive long enough for crew to abandon
So it would sink? So it wouldn't survive?
>>31853598
It probably can but the end result is the ship being so gutted it wont be worth the time or money to fix it.
>>31853598
It entirely depends on where it hits and how ready were the crew to be hit.

The Granit need to explode to cause holes and blast damage. The videos of it exploding is probably the fuel exploding like a thermobaric.

The ship could survive and stay afloat, but the electronic systems inside the ship would be destroyed, rendering the destroyer ineffective in combat.

You what, m8.
>>31854096
>It doesn't even sink
Kinda proves my point. The missile damaged the ship but didn't actually sink it.

Do you think ships sink in 5 seconds?
>>31854151
It's a shitty wooden mockup anyway. An Arleigh burkes destroyer would have survived.

>It's a shitty wooden mockup anyway.
Its a barracks ship.
>>31854124
>It doesn't even sink
Its did sink after being hit by those two Moskits, all though it had been used as a target ship before.

A P-700 Granit carries 750 kg of high explosives. Thats not far from what a 2000-pound Mk 84 bomb carries.
And even disregarding the warhead its 7000 kg hitting the ship at mach 2, wich is equal to flying a fighterjet into the ship at maximum speed.
Its safe to say that it would fuck any ship up.

>missile damaged the ship but didn't actually sink it
It took Americans a number of Harpoons, a couple of torpedoes and some hours to actually literally sink a frigate sot so long ago. Ships don't sink in a moment, but the damage is insane even from pure kinetic energy.

Depending on WHERE it was struck, one of these might have been able to survive a Granit.

"hey escorts and AWACS, take the rest of the week off will you"

That movie was a shit sunday and this scene was the corn and nuts on top.
