I'm pretty new to shooting. One thing I've noticed is that with more narrow, steel frame handguns like the 1911, the recoil tends to go straight back into your hand, whereas glocks and polymer handguns I've fired tend to bounce, and go side to side a bit. I shoot better with the former, as I feel I can maintain a better sight picture while and after it recoils, and the .45 doesn't have that much more of a kick than the 9mm, although 9mm out of a steel frame is where I shoot the best.
Is this a thing that other people experience or is this just the fact that I suck?
Either way I'm very comfortable and decently accurate with my Browning Hi Power.
I just want to know if anyone else experiences this, because I eventually plan on getting a polymer 9mm for my carry piece.
pic somewhat related
You're not alone. The steel frame is why I like the cz 75.
Its difficult to describe, but on a completely polymer pistol, you feel a warping.
Polymer is a meme for anything other than carry guns. Polymer fags need to get the fuck out and realize the mass of a steel frame helps attenuate recoil in service pistols.

this isnt a polymer vs steel frame thing
this is a how well the gun fits your hand thing
your hands are too small for a doublestack or your grip isnt consistent so you get side to side movement since you have to readjust after each shot

Agreed. This is why I think it's a terrible idea for the military to adopt the Glock 19 as it's main sidearm.
The main question you should ask when choosing a field pistol is "if one of our boys gets shot down by one of their bastards and has nothing but his sidearm what kind of sidearm would we want the poor son of a bitch to have goddammit!?"
and stock Glocks are simply not accurate, Beretta M9s were. Don't get me wrong Glocks are great for Law enforcement and security guards but they aren't fit as a field pistol.

>and stock Glocks are simply not accurate,
>Glocks are great for Law enforcement
Stop exacerbating the problem.
>>31836520
>I'm very comfortable and decently accurate with my Browning Hi Power.
Try again lad
>>31836912
so the existence of the S&W 5906 overrides the fact that I feel very comfortable with the Hi Power how?
>>31837255
Nah dude, I was telling him he's wrong.
>Hands too small for doublestack or grip inconsistent with doublestack
>He says to OP who says he's very comfortable with a doublestack
Plus the 5906 is my doublestack metal pistolfu at the moment and that was the first appropriate picture I rolled over.
>>31837295
I got a 5906 rusting away as the truck gun in my Jeep.
HOW DOES THAT MAKE YOU FEEL LAD.
I also got a 59 in my bathroom as my shitter emergency pistole.
>>31837337
Slightly sad, but she's stainless so she'll be OK.
That's an odd shitter emergency one and I wish I had a 59, but what can you do?
Really though, it's insane the shit a 5906 comes with stock that had been considered boutique custom on 1911-style guns for so long that was all present there at the price point.
I like the Shield and the M&P series, but fuck if I don't want the old metal series back again.
>>31837295
you sound like a fag and your shit's all retarded
>>31836912
>that rand mcnally safety
so close to perfection.
>>31837295
that stipling and those grips are really good.
>>31836507
>carry guns aren't service guns
>service guns aren't carry guns
You should kill yourself DESU tho
>>31836749
>simply not accurate
Go ahead and explain why a Glock is mechanically not accurate. You being a poor shooter with one isn't a reason, by the way.
Thanks for playing
>>31837295
Please stop posting pics of them lol. You're making me want one.
>>31837369
OK maybe I have found my next carry pistol
>>31837480
I think he's talking about field pistols.
>>31837480
People clearly want something different for EDC and full service.
You think the armed services are going to issue a Shield of PPS to replace the M9 or something?
>>31837510
Oops, sorry. Look around. I've put maybe $380 or so total into mine and I have like eight mags and put the majority of its round count through it. They're out there, and they're in surprisingly good condition most of the time if you don't get a cop trade in. And even then.
>Carry pistol
Honestly been thinking about moving to one of the 3919's for carry. Only thing holding me back is thinking of replacing the thing, God forbid I need to use it.
>>31837570
yeah that's why I kind of want another 9mm anyway. I would be seriously pissed if I had my Hi Power taken from me by the police because some tosser decided to break into my house and receive a 15 round salute for the effort.
The serial number matches the year and month I was born, and I doubt I'll be able to find one for the price I got it in the future.
>>31837608
Yeah, don't know your situation on price, but look for a 3906 or a CZ or something. Something metal, something similar, something you won't miss. Touch it up and keep it clean and that's a fucking family heirloom piece, right there.
I really wish new Hi-Powers weren't like $1000 and most of the clones hadn't disappeared. Best feel in-hand of any gun I've held and I've never even got to shot one.
>>31837608
>>31837663
I have a bhp that i used to love to carry until someome pointed out that it would rust in evidence if i ever used it. So i got a feg clone, same thing but cheaper and expendable.
>>31837722
Respectable. Yeah, that's the problem.
I'd love an FEG, but that's what I meant about the clones. I haven't seen one in a while and I remember some chatter about FEG going under or stopping importation or something. I always miss the boat on the surplus ones, too.
Man I'm just realizing how many random pics of BHPs I have
