What early self-loading handgun had the most influence on the ergonomics of future designs?
>>
>>31829921
Browning shit, hands down. Becoming standard issue will do that. 1911, hi-power, 190X, etc.

As far as lasting influence this right here.

>>31831499
Also had some influence in ergonomics but the actual action was a dead end.

Im a sucker for M1912 but Colt had similar look with 1907 model

Practicality be damned, Mannlicher clips in a pistol alone make it worth it, to say nothing of its looks.
Someone post the art deco artillery Luger and LeMat.

Also this.

They paved the way for modern pistol ergonomics.
>>
>>31831515
not any more of a dead end than Browning GOAT designs in both the 1911 and Hi Power, They and all the pistols based on the essentially work the exact same.

The Luger could be improved easily,I just think that the losses of the Wars by germany pretty much killed the proliferation of most of their weapons.

>the losses of the wars by Germany pretty much killed the proliferation of most of their weapons.
Uh huh...
>Mauser design is most-copied rifle on Earth
>P38 lead to Beretta 92/M9
>MG42 still in use as MG3
>M60 was developed from MG42/FG42
>MP18 lead to MP38 and MP40
>STG-44 showed the world the value of the assault rifle

Does that sound about right? Yeah, German firearms sure were held back from losing those wars... the Luger ended up forgotten because better pistol designs became available after 1908.
>>
Today I learned steyr Hahn will give you garand thumb if you try to test the mag spring strength.
No easy way to open the slide either.

Anyway mine is marked "Steyr 1915" does this indicate a model of 1915 or the year of manufacture?

>>STG-44 showed the world the value of the assault rifle
You forgot that it's mechanism is still used in G3, MP5, etc.

Roller delayed blowback
>>
>>31834696
the STG-44 wasn't roller delayerd

You're thinking of the STG-45, I think. The STG-44 was a long-stroke gas piston design with tilting bolt. Sort of a mix between M1 Rifle and SVT-40.

>>31834696
The STG-44 was not roller delayed.

That is production date.
There are total 6 variants of the model 1912

Neat, so high chance this gun saw action in ww1?
A company is making new 9mm parabellum barrels for the Hahn but I guess it'll only handle weak loads. Considering getting one 2bh

>>31830321
I just bought a 95% condition FN 1900 a couple weeks ago. It's such a cool fucking gun.

>A company is making new 9mm parabellum barrels for the Hahn but I guess it'll only handle weak loads.
I mean most of M1912 were converted in 9mm parabellum for the Austrian police in 1941 i beleave so it shouldn't be so hard to find a old barrel and the load shouldn't be a problem they are very durable guns

The Luger's action is literally Industrial Revolution tier badass. A bent-arm reminds me of those old coal powered steamship boiler engines, reliable as all hell, even if its archaic now.
>>
>>31833363
I was mainly refering to german small arms of ww1, you know the ones gimped by the treat of Versailles.

>>31833195
>Wars
>Plural

I think you're attempting damage control, anon. Anyways, as for the matter at hand, I don't think the Luger gained much in proliferation after WWI/WWII simply because there are cheaper and more reliable designs available out there, in particular the most common pistol mechanism on the market to date; Browning's tilting barrel system, or whatever it's called. The Luger's 'knee joint' design or whatever you'd like to call it was far more expensive and less reliable.
>>
>>31834892
That looks like it should be in Fallout
>>
>>31835771
No they dont have any marks on the barrel itself, just a 08 mark on the front part of the slide as a reference to P08/parabellum support
>>
>>31835824
>early semi automatic pistols

you can split hairs and ignore what fits my point all you want, obviously the treaty of Versailles was what gave us the Bolo C96, and why germany and their designs were strictly prohibited from be exported.

Its called a toggle you stupid faggot, it is more expensive, debatable reliability, maxim guns used toggle locked mechanisms and through use by the Vickers company, gained proliferation throughout the world.
>>
>>31830321
I like the grips, kind of like people who get their own names tattooed on themselves

HAH! I didn't notice that. Yeah, that's pretty fucking hilarious.
