Hello, this is the RCMP, you are under arrest for the unlawful transport, and discharge of a restricted firearm. We are sending a team to your house. Surrender the weapons and your dog will not be hurt

>>
>>31829555
RCMP jokes aside, I've seen RCMP driving through unpaved roads very often so the chance of getting caught with restricted weapons is quite high imo.

I don't recommend shooting restricteds innawoods. Non res is fine as long as you are allowed to discharge firearms in the area you are shooting (watch for private property and city limits). Don't fucking drink, smoke weed, and shoot because you will be charged with careless discharge of firearms if you do.

From mu understanding, these permits are so rare, that I realized my time would be wasted trying to get an answer out of a live person. The way this particular permit is issued, is that they have no duty to explain to you why the application got turfed. It's just something that is rarely issued.

Originally, they were going to require a PAL to own one, but that got scrapped at the last minute. Some early PAL's even say "crossbow" on them, IIRC.

Crossbows designed or adapted to be fired one handed are prohibited devices.

>The cops charge you anyways just because and "reasonable force" is up to interpretation.
First of all our laws don't require you to use "reasonable force".

2nd of all charging someone is a formality because any death outside of a hospital requires a cursory police investigation at the very least (ie: police need to sign off on an obvious car accident death before it is 100% legally 'not a murder').

People need to stop being shocked, especially Americans, that the police actually investigate claims of self defence to make sure they're true.

>>31835023

Thanks but that's not exactly my issue. The Kobra is on its own mount and sits too far forward on the rail. Any other angled mount would work fine but I want to use the Kobra.

That's only if it goes to trial, otherwise it's a summary judgement by the court and the case gets dismissed.

People always focus on the edge cases when they talk about this stuff. Like the guy who shot a (probably knocked out, since his car just crashed) native in the back of the head. Or the local guy (to Nova Scotia) who got charged for mistakenly shooting his son during an attempted robbery of their home.. ignoring how it involved drugs being present on the property, which takes things from simple self defence to the grey area if someone defending their criminal enterprise.

I urge you again to drill new holes in the mount and not in your rifle if it will still work. I can't recall where the other hole is underneath the mount but drill new holes in the mount equally over. If you did a new one in line with the blue, you'd have enough room at that point, yes?

Would this work or not with your kobra mount?

Yea don't worry I took your advice to cut, drill and tap the rail and not the receiver. It's just that I'm having a terrible time just trying to unscrew the rail from the receiver.

>First of all our laws don't require you to use "reasonable force".

Yes it does.

You can't just randomly drop a fucker with a shotgun just because he's about to steal a power drill.

The Citizen’s Arrest and Self-defence Act. covers it all.

34. (1) A person is not guilty of an offence if
(a) they believe on reasonable grounds that force is being used against them or another person or that a threat of force is being made against them or another person;
(b) the act that constitutes the offence is committed for the purpose of defending or protecting themselves or the other person from that use or threat of force; and
(c) the act committed is reasonable in the circumstances.
Marginal note:Factors

(2) In determining whether the act committed is reasonable in the circumstances, the court shall consider the relevant circumstances of the person, the other parties and the act, including, but not limited to, the following factors:
(a) the nature of the force or threat;
(b) the extent to which the use of force was imminent and whether there were other means available to respond to the potential use of force;
(c) the person’s role in the incident;
(d) whether any party to the incident used or threatened to use a weapon;
(e) the size, age, gender and physical capabilities of the parties to the incident;
(f) the nature, duration and history of any relationship between the parties to the incident, including any prior use or threat of force and the nature of that force or threat;
(f.1) any history of interaction or communication between the parties to the incident;
(g) the nature and proportionality of the person’s response to the use or threat of force; and
(h) whether the act committed was in response to a use or threat of force that the person knew was lawful.

32.2.a b are the most important parts that establishes "reasonable force. "

This. Iron sights are the shit, and optics are primarily for people either with bad eyes, or they just haven't put the practice in to shoot well with irons. If you can't hit a target at 100-200m (110-220yd) with irons, then yeah, you suck at shooting.
>>

This

I know what you mean, though. Really, if you're going to own a semi-auto in Canada, it best be one that can accept clips. Carrying around a bunch of 5-rnd mags is just... disgusting. 10-rnd mags is better, but still, with good clips it can be just about as quick to load 2 clips as it can to load one magazine, especially if you're going to hold onto the magazine in the process of the reload (meaning don't drop it). I'll be going with a Mini-14 when it comes time to get my first .223, or if I can't find any that can accept clips, then I'll get a .223 CZ-858. If it turns out I can't get .223 clips to begin with though, then I'll probably just get the cheapest bolt action .223 I can find, then wonder why on Earth I got it in the first place, and probably sell it in short time in favour of my SKS.

Seriously, 5-rnd clips are so much better than 5-rnd mags that I refuse to have a firearm that can ONLY accept 5-rnd mags. Only 10-rnd mags, that might be workable, but it will still feel just... blegh. Pistols is ok, but for a rifle, if it can ONLY be reloaded via mag-swap, 10 is a bare minimum, and it's an uncomfortable minimum. I'd much rather carry clips, or at least MOSTLY clips with just a couple 10-rnd mags for 'emergency'... I feel cringy saying that.

It's ok, you'll get around to it some day. Just don't get sucked into this strange belief that optics make firearms more accurate. They don't. There's no magic that goes into the action to make it stronger, or into the rifling to make it sharper, or into the bullet to give it a flatter trajectory. It simply makes it easier to see the target, but if you can already see it just fine (like you should be able to at just 100-200m), then there should be no difference between your accuracy with irons and your accuracy with optics. Is there is a difference, then you either need to get your eyesight checked, or you need to practice more with irons.

The POI should be right on top of the front sight. If Mag30th can take a Carcano with irons to 1400m or whatever that crazy distance was (I think for the Guinness World Record), then someone with good eyes could take irons to reasonable distances like 200-300m with absolute ease.

two 10 round magazines taped end-to-end is the best that it gets, unless you count two beowulf magazines taped end-to-end, which would have more rounds

magazines are faster than clips. the advantage that clips have is lower weight, lower cost and lower bulk. My Vz. 58 and SKS can load from stripper clips or XCR magazines, so I can supplement my magazines with clips.

I really like the 10 round magazines, but I think I'd prefer 20 round magazines. 30 is nice, but 20s are the perfect size. I'd like to have a 60 and a bunch of 20s. I'd like to have some 15 round stripper clips for filling up 30 round magazines once we fix the laws.

>>31836185
>once we fix the laws.

Nigger we'd be lucky if the registry wasn't reinstated again and the AR doesn't get prohibited.
>>
>>31836185
No, magazines are not always faster than clips, especially when said mags aren't disposable, and since we're just civilians who use our own gear, since we're not being supplied by a professional Military, our mags are not disposable. When it comes to 5 round capacity, if there's any difference in the time it takes to swap mags or load with a clip, it's negligible at best, and does not outweigh the added cost, weight, and bulk of a loaded of mags instead of clips. I can reload one of my empty Lee Enfields with 2 clips in less than 5 seconds. Would I save time in reloading with a mag swap instead? No, I wouldn't, and here's why...

Reload via clips when empty

>Open bolt
>Grab 2 clips
>Place first clip
>Push rounds in
>Tap top of first clip backwards while placing second clip
>Push rounds in
>Close bolt

Reload via mag swap when empty

>Open bolt (easier to seat a full mag that way)
>Remove magazine
>Retain magazine on your person
>Grab fresh magazine
>Seat fresh mag
>Close bolt

As for something like a CZ-858...

Reload via clip from empty

>Grab clip
>Place clip
>Push rounds in
>Release the bolt

Reload via mag from empty

>Grab mag
>Retain mag on person
>Grab fresh mag
>Insert mag
>Rack bolt

The advantage in speed in terms of reloading via mag swap only really makes itself known when 3+ smooth 5-rnd clips, 2+ finicky (Mosin) 5-rnd clips, or 2+ 10-rnd clips are needed to reload from empty. If all you need to reload is 1-2 smooth 5-rnd clips, 1 finicky clip, or 1 10-rnd clip, then it's likely that reloading via clips will be JUST as fast as reloading via mag swap, or it will be such a small difference that it doesn't outweigh the added cost/weight/bulk of having mags.

I would say that's just my 'opinion', but really, if you took the time to practice reloading by clips, I think you'd find that you'd easily find yourself thankful that you no longer bother with 5 round mags. 10 round mags though... eh, I guess that's more or less by preference.

We're more organized than ever and the liberal party underlings don't see the point of gun grabbing. The old generation is dying and we have an opportunity to change things. Remember that CC used to be illegal in most states, now it's legal in every state and some are passing vermont carry laws. That was possible because people believed they could change things. Fuck you, little bitch.

>>31836310
if clips were faster, people would use them in competition. they don't.

clips aren't disposable either, I reuse mine. if you're shooting on a two way range then don't worry about retaining clips or magazines.

>>
>>31836455
The difference in reloading a 5-rnd mag via clip or by swapping is negligible at best, and it's easier to replace clips than mags due to them being far cheaper as we've mentioned. If I recall correctly, I bought 20 clips for something like $5.00 or something like that. Went ahead and bought 40 of the buggers. Anyways, if you're going to drop your mags, that's your prerogative, but not everyone would share your practice. It's far better to lose or damage a clip than it is to lose or damage a mag, and I maintain, there's little to no advantage in reloading with mags over clips when the capacity is so low. Even with 10 round mags and 5 round clips, the advantage of swapping mags hardily makes up for the added cost/weight/bulk of having all mags rather than at least having half and half if not all clips.

I live right nearby this forest, recently some "no discharge of firearms" signs have been erected where the trails intersect St. Felix road. So it seems that part of the map is accurate. But I used to take my bicycle on those trails sometimes and I'd see a lot of empty shotshells and boxes on the ground. Lots more than you'd expect a hunter to leave behind. So I wouldn't expect too much trouble, especially if you head further into the woods.

Although I think a dead body was dumped in the woods a few years back, so now there might be a little more attention given to suspicious behavior.

Whenever I go into a few stores I still see 25 round 10/22 magazines, it doesn't even look like they're enforcing it and stores aren't following

I've heard nothing about 25-rnd mags becoming prohibited. Mag restrictions apply only to pistols and semi-auto centerfire rifles/shotguns last I checked. Manually operated and rimfire rifles have unlimited mag capacity, which is why the Lee Enfield is perfectly fine with its 10-rnd mag yet the SKS and SVT must be pinned to 5. The M1 Rifle has an exemption by name. Due to the Ruger 10/22 being rimfire, then it should have no magazine restrictions whatsoever. If you could find a 50-rnd drum, then you could damn well use it... though I imagine such a mag would be a jammy POS for .22lr.

Granted, I haven't been keeping up on Canadian firearm laws since we got the longgun registry scrapped in 2012 or so, so I'm a few years out a date. Still, that was the state of affairs 4 years ago; rimfire and manually operated RIFLES have unlimited magazine capacity, so 25 round capacity is, or at least WAS, quite fine.
>>
>>31839299
It was a recent thing, since Ruger put out the charger - which is a .22lr pistol that accepts 10/22 mags, all magazines that fit in the 10/22 must now be pinned to 10

But like I said, nobody seems to be following or enforcing this
>>

>>
>>31839251
It's sad. I just want an unsporterized No. 4 Mk. 1. Why is that so hard?
>>
>>31839319
That should make no difference; the magazines are designed for the 10/22. The magazines are legal. If the magazines happen to fit in the pistol, then tough sub. To my knowledge it's not even illegal because it's not a 25-rnd mag for a pistol. It's a LEGAL mag. It just so happens that it can fit in the pistol. If anything, they should prohibit the pistol. The most they can do though is just tell you not to use it in the pistol (whatever that pistol is), but to my knowledge it's not even illegal.

That's why you can get 10-rnd AR pistol mags to use in AR15s and 20-rnd AIA Lee Enfield mags to use in Norinco M1A copies (provided they fit; I hear it's a little hit or miss). They can tell you NOT to do it, but because the magazines were made for rimfire/manually operated firearms and just HAPPEN to fit in other firearms, it's a loophole. There's no specific law that I know of that says you can't take a magazine from a different firearm and use it in a Restricted firearm even though it's technically over the mag limit. I think even the firearm instructor who gave me my license in 2008 told me about it... fuck, has it really been nearly a decade?...
>>
>>31839463
>If anything, they should prohibit the pistol.

The situation was more complicated than that.

The NDP, as a party, was pro-registry. Certain NDP MP's, however, had to be against the registry to be electable in their ridings.

The bill to abolish the registry was a private member's bill. Traditionally, this kind of bill is a free vote, so MP's can vote however they need to in order to best represent their constituency.

The BQ and the LPC both whipped the vote (Leadership telling everyone how to vote). The NDP was stuck trying to make good on two conflicting promises, so what they did is whip the vote JUST ENOUGH so that the bill wouldn't pass while allowing as many of the NDP MP's who had promised their constituents that they would vote to abolish the registry as possible (Vote failed 153 to 151).

Not completely whipping the vote was used by the LPC as a stick to beat the NDP with (DEM DERE DIPPERS ARE COOPERATING WIT DA CPC, MAKIN US ALL LESS SAFE!), even though the NDP actually has a worse party platform as far as firearm laws are concerned.

The CPC majority that was won immediately after this allowed them to win the vote on their own without requiring any MP's from any other parties to vote along with them.

So no, the NDP didn't fucking help.

If you're concealed carrying? The only way you're going to get caught is if you get pulled over and patted down. Don't be a criminal scum and break traffic laws, and you'll be fine.

Also, if you are carrying innawoods and you really want to appear legal, pack along a non-restricted to act as an explanation for the shooting sounds. Otherwise, shoot in areas such that it takes a bit of a hike to access.

The placement of the no discharge zone makes sense because there are houses not far from it. I found only one .410 3 inch magnum shell, but a few signs on one of the southern roads were shot to shit. There were a few spots with solid backstops that looked like they'd make pretty decent target shooting places.

The scout rifle concept is fucking retarded in the age of modern rifles. Bolt actions shine in precision and long range shooting, so putting irons on them is pointless. Shorter distances are the domain of the semiauto.

The scout rifle concept is a solution in search of a problem. A decent semiauto rifle (yes, muh m305 for instance) is a far more suitable multipurpose gun that fits the bill.
>>
PAL should be in the mail and on the way. First gun is going to be a VZ, but I need to know a good store to get one.

So what's the best place to buy a CSA VZ58 in .223 online right now? I'm fine with the black or FDE, but I like FDE a bit more.

It would also be great if they had some good beginner cleaning kits as well.

>>
>>31853103
I'm in NL and we have a stupid law where you can't just bring a gun innawoods unless you have a valid game license and it's an appropriate legal caliber for the game. So unless I want to keep getting temporary permits to bring it out every weekend for "sighting". Other option is just getting a coyote license which is valid for 10 months of a year, But 7.62 isn't legal for coyote hunting, only .22 caliber centerfires are.

No, kept the optic and VFG I had, sold just the gun. I liked it, and will buy another, but I'm a very tall guy, so ARs are much more comfortable to shoot.
For $1100, I got
>Norc CQ-A 10.5in
>ACOG TA01NSN
>Enormous hard case
>5 mags (2 Norc mags, 2 LAR-10s, 1 Pmag)
>Spare furniture/parts (Stock furniture, swapped for a railed Doreen's with covers, extra custom MOLSON LABIA dust cover, old charging handle, two iron sight carry handles, spare firing pin, couple spare parts, original pistol grip (swapped for a better one), folding VFG (the kind that show up on C8s occasionally), and some odds and ends.
I prefer 14.5in uppers, but all in all, I think I did well. Hell, maybe I can find someone who wants to swap uppers.

Oooh, I REALLY want a set of Ratnik gear. I just can't afford it yet. I still have a bunch of Master Race CADPAT gear, though.
>>
>>31853791
yea ratnik gear is top teir for durability and protection, and no its not cheaplike most russian gear but you get more than what you pay for its that good. my helmet is exactly 1kg and protects against multiple(~5) 9mm from 5m, but ive also seen videos of it stopping a single 7.62x39 from i believe it was 30m, no other helmet offers that level of protection at that weight, american helmets have the same protection level, but theyre 1.97kg almost 2kg, the 6b45 with 6a plates can stop 10 54r AP from 15m, and up to 20 fucking x39 and the whole vest/plates combo only weighs like 15kg give or take a couple, i was astonished at how light it was compared to plate carrier with no kevlar and just plates mines 12kg, i always thought kevlar+plates would be absurd but now im really wanting the extra coverage, especially for my neck and dick shoulders not so much cause i still want the extra mobility unless im storming a house or something , the dick armor even comes with a small plate that can stop ak rounds as well

>ultimate hunting rifle
Scout rifle isn't supposed to be a dedicated hunting rifle. The idea is to be an all purpose hunting and man-killing weapon.

>>31853113
Nothing wrong with fun, m8. My gripe is with the intended purpose, not whether it's enjoyable. I love flintlock muskets, but you won't see me saying how great they are compared to more modern designs.

>>31853299
On a hunting rifle? No big deal. In a pinch, you can sight down the barrel and get relatively decent short-range accuracy. Shotgunners seem to manage just fine with a front bead.

On a combat rifle, absolutely. But a short bolt-action rifle is not a good choice for a combat rifle these days, so it's a non-issue.
>>
>>31854185
Depends on the winter. Last year in Edmonton, woodland camo could get you through almost the winter.
>>
>>31854230

In a way, the EOSC's location makes the Larose forest a little iffy as a shooting spot, because it may be seen as strange or suspicious that a bunch of slavved-up Ottawafags are firing guns near, but not on, an approved range. I dunno man. If it seems alright to you, I'd be down to meetup for shoots sometime.
>>
>>31853479

>>
>>31854390
Don't have to do anything. Forensic ballistics is a pseudoscience and won't show anything. If you're really paranoid, you can run a file down the bore and in the chamber.

The main risk is being seen and identified. If you don't have a criminal record and you're not using some moon caliber that only a couple people in the area own legally, the cops will assume it was a gang-related shooting with an illegal weapon.
>>
>>31854390
You would inform the Law Enforcement Officer who arrives on scene that you're armed, probably end up surrendering your weapon and the showing the officer your ATC (which you had surely been issued, because you're carrying a restricted firearm, after all). Some time after which, you would have to appear in court and give evidence to the effect that you had used the appropriate amount of force. Easy Peazy.
>>
>>31854390
clean your ammo and gun using a soft detergent then oil like normal while wearing gloves and load your mag then holster it while still wearing gloves, then do not touch it under any circumstances unless you absolutely have to. the point of cleaning both the ammo and gun and not handling is so if you get caught without using it, even tho its on you, your prints arent on it, and if your prints werent on it then it wasnt really on you, and if you do use it, its good to be wearing gloves for that too but just shoot and sprint out of there, then wipe your gun down thoroughly and act like nothing happened, chances are if you had to actually shoot someone it was someone that deserved it and you shouldnt lose any sleep over it
>>
>>31854390

I heard that the CZ-858s are the semi-auto only vZ.58s, while a vZ.58 is a proper select-fire assault rifle. No? If that's not the case, then my next assumption is the 858 has the 18.5" barrel while the vZ.58 (even if semi-auto-only) has the standard... 16.3" barrel? That's the barrel length of an AK anyways, I'm guessing the Czechs went with a similar barrel length.
