Know what I hate more? Bolt action rifles have different damage ranges, as in yards. The lee enfield is a one shot kill at 40 yards to 80 yards, then it does 90 dmg. But the kicker is that at 35 yards it doesn't fucking kill you. It does less damage up from 10 yards than it does at 40. The Russian 1895 is the same, but at 50 yards. The rest of them are even longer.

The game has this insane disconnect between the dramatic, tragic title cards and cutscenes that present the war as this dark, horrible thing, and a gameplay where a single soldier effortlessly anihilates thousands in a matter of minutes without a hint of remorse. There's probably two things at work for that particular scenario.
1. DICE adding typical shooter elements to add more action
2. The Ardito using a machinegunner's armor instead of an assaultman's armor (although that still does not forgive the fact that he gets to shoulder his weapons)

I get by through playing scout class almost exclusively.
I hate snipers generally, I just use the infantry versions and play as a rifleman. I do also change my gear to try to match the faction I'm on in each match.
