Do you want a tack driver? Go find a 20" barrel. Want a home defense gun? Go 16" or 14.5" with permanent muzzle device. Want somewhere in between? Go 18".

What do you want to shoot? Cheapest .223/5.56 is 55 gr, which needs at least a 1:9 twist rate or slower (so 1:10, 1:12, etc). Want to be able to shoot 62 or 72 gr ammo? (not expensive, but less common) Go 1:8 or 1:7.

Longer barrels are inherently less accurate, the only way to guarantee match grade accuracy is to get a match grade barrel, and 1/7or 1/8 twist is perfectly fine for 55gr .223/5.56.
