I had an idea a while ago, hide some sort of pneumatic cannon in a manhole, have a phone trigger like in IEDs to launch a metal bar into the underside to either tip the vehicle over, or pierce the vehicle and anchor it.

The enemy can have some of the best tanks in the world but if they have no fuel/spare parts/general supplies to keep them running they will fail. Case in point: Nazi tanks. Had some of the best of the war but they couldn't do shit once the fuel and spare parts ran dry.


TL;DR don't destroy the tank, destroy what keeps the tank in the fight.

any armor or armored vehicles always have the same fundamental problems.

1. they are heavy: Terrain is their enemy, soft earth = sinking ship. Rocks & boulders make for zero mobility

2. the more armor, the less visibility: you can blind any MBT with paintball guns, glass bottles filled with paint, & paint loaded molotov cocktails. commander, gunner, driver & GAS sight, then they're fucked. MRAPs , Strikers & uparmored Humvees are no exception.

3. top is soft, especially in the heat: Like any animals on the planet, soldiers enjoy comfort. if there are hatches on top of the vehicle in the heat, rest assured that 15 ton oven they are riding in will have the top hatches open.

For i.e.ds and the like? Belly and top armour are traditional weak spots in addition to destroying tracks and stranding the thing to help with the top/bottom ied plant.

Other than the tank itself? (Which I would recommend as you don't want to play to your enemies strengths) fuel and supply depots in addition to airfields and ports. This will destroy on hand supplies and fuel in addition to stemming the flow of new stuff to the tanks.

Honestly look at the NVA for an example of how to launch a successful guerilla war against a superior military with air/armoured elements.
