I want to buy my friend a blade for Christmas. He's a huge history nut. Any suggestions?

Swiss K31 Bayonet. They're pretty easy to find as surplus and really neat. Cost is around $50. If you want to splurge, get an engineer's/pioneer's bayonet. They're between $200 and $300 and are distinctive for their saw pattern.

He really likes medieval and Roman stuff. But also likes large imperial powers in the 18 and 17th century.

I don't want to spend too much money. So, i'd prefer replicas.

How much are you willing to pay?

60 USD tops.

Then like >>31768160 said, best go with a Swiss Bayonet. It's not quite 17/18th century imperial, but it's the real thing, in your price range, and you aren't going to find a decent quality replica for $60.
Japanese Tanto.
