Dogs ride out on front of the hood of the vehicles with handler in safari seat air scenting for shitskins with detection dog out front if disturbed ground, rotated back into AC vehicle when appropriate. DMRs and automatic rifleman on 4 stroke dirtbikes can be deployed to provide overwatch quickly.

Typical loadout would be 7.62x51 rifles, 1 of which is accurised into a DMR role and another pushed into a LMG role, share magazines across the board.

When a terr base is identified an observation team will embed in an overwatch position from the armoured column, calling in airstrikes or artillery then rejoining with the armoured as it rolls through to mop up the mess. Turn the population against the insurgents, have a minimal presence among the people so if they attack your base they would very likely end up hurting civilians. Set up a aid system where the people can get aid and supplies from your base(s), as long as they pick it up, basically baiting the insurgents to attack civilians.
While all this is happening run covert raids on the insurgents, leave as little footprint as possible and leave the key people alive, that way the civilian population has a face to blame.
Eventually they'll lose support and the government or people will ask you to get rid of them, from there on it's open season.

Release a deadly series of indigenous self-sustaining viruses into the general population, where total ignorance of medicine amplifies casualties. Sweep in and finish off the remaining old women and child soldiers when famine forces the agrarian population out of stronghold areas. The Selous Scouts’ training and operational doctrine inculcated audacity. At various times, for example, White Selous Scouts posed as the ‘prisoners’ of Black Selous Scout ‘terrorists’, and were escorted into terrorist strongholds, where White prisoners were highly prized. At the appropriate moment, the Selous Scouts turned their weapons on the terrorists, wreaking havoc from within. The classic example of audacity was the Selous Scouts raid on the large ZANLA terrorist camp at Nyadzonya Pungwe in August 1976. Using Unimogs and Ferrets painted in FRELIMO camouflage, eighty-four Selous Scouts penetrated Mozambique and drove directly into a large terrorist camp. Thousands of terrorists were in camp preparing for morning formations, when the Scouts opened up with 20mm cannons, .50 MGs, 12.7mm MGs, 7.62mm MGs and rifles. Estimates of the number of terrorists killed run as high as 1,000, all for five slightly wounded Selous Scouts. As the Scouts retreated to Rhodesia they blew up the Pungwe Bridge behind them, frustrating pursuit.

Various lessons can be learned from this aspect of Selous Scouts operations. First, calculated audacity will often allow a small counter-insurgency force to inflict casualties quite out of proportion to the numbers of men involved. Secondly, terrorists, who rely heavily on fear as a weapon, can themselves be rendered psychologically impotent through fear when they become the prey of an enemy who appears, hits hard, and then vanishes; who, in effect, turns their own weapons against them.
