Most military aged men and women currently eligible for conscription would not even be mentally or physically suitable.

When the gloves come off in an industrial nation, you get Nazi Germany level of "yes, we are going to use our money and education to kill you all".

It's a really bad situation if it gets that bad - if that small amount of civil behavior you get from education and good life gets displaced by hatred for the enemy, there's no moral obstacles to killing.

The thing you don't realize about Americans is that they slave away at their jobs.

You know how Russians say "We beat our recruits in training so that combat seems like a pleasant change." Guess what, combat is a pleasant change for an American waking up at 6am to go to their shit job, yada yada.

Also, gym membership is picking up a TON in the US among people in their 20s and 30s, maybe even older.

Then there is that whole ability to do basics - drive combat vehicles, familiarity with weapons and computers.

Contrast that to squatting in podezd and drinking vodka while being malnourished, and it doesn't look all that good for the Russians.

Current NATO armies are not prepared for big wars involving capable adversaries, high levels of death and destruction, and hundreds of thousands of troops.
Western governments are in no way prepared to enforce mass mobilization, conscription and martial law.
Current military commanders have little if any experience with extreme battlefield stresses caused by overrun units and heavy casualties..
The average western soldier is certainly less impressive than his forebears from the 1940s or even the 1980s.
Two decades of unchallenged military and technological supremacy had nurtured some staggering arrogance and complacency, bordering with delusion of omnipotence.
Every technological advantage the west had until recently is being sacrificed in pursuit of "sensor fusion", "information superiority" and social experiments.

The west has been drilled their entire life on how to follow the rules. Do you think they will have any problem with orders? They have slaved away at 9to5 jobs, do you think they have problems with keeping watch throughout the night?

Your average russian trooper is a conscript, malnourished abused and raped by older soldiers and sadistic officers and have no will to fight.
No russian commander currently alive has any experience with anything remotely war like, only the Chechen clusterfuck, the georgian bullying operation and the sneaky proofs warfare in Ukraine, all of which where tiny in scale and not even close to anything resembling modern warefare.
Putin is assassinating his senior command to boot, leaving the russian army in a pre-winter war state.
The equipment russia have is either old and outdated or just a token force of modern gear full of teething problems due to being pressed into service too fast.

And that's much more than two decades, by the way :

Russia stopped being a real technological challenge in the 70'.
And by the 80', it stopped being a military challenge too.
Today, it's basically an oligarchy which depends so much on fossil fuels exports to the UE that it will never even think of starting a war with NATO.

China is still two or three decades from closing the gap and that's only if the US would be stagnating during that time frame.

India is a shithole, buying export versions of Russia's toys while failing at everything we thought they would achieve last decade.

Brazil is nearly bankrupt, with a much more US-friendly government bound to replace the current one when next elections come.

Realistically, today, nobody on this blue Earth could gather a military force capable to challenge the USA in a full-blown conventional war.
And the moment somebody start seriously building a serious fleet, increasing squadrons and divisions, ect... the USA can just DOUBLE on whatever its wannabe challenger is doing.

Today, the USA are a peaceful, sleeping giant. It has its problems but, despite them, it's still the n°1 superpower by a long shot.
The EU has a better economy by a thin hair but its military is near-non existant in comparison.
Russia could be seen as a hard nut to crack militarily... but its economy is so weak that, in attrition conflict, it will crumble. And since no vatnik army will ever cross the oceans...
