They actually work very well for urban camo at night, especially in the inner city/downtown areas where most light comes from the light poles by the road. Helps to blend in with buildings more than houses.

As far as being useful for a bunch of dudes and dykes on a bigass boat, maybe the camo pattern is for blending in with the ship? Idk. I've heard that it turns orange when it gets submerged in water but I'm not certain if that's a wives tale or not.

I didn't mind the camo pattern when I was in. I joined the navy the last few years the prison uniforms were still around. I was happy to get some sort of BDU looking uniform regardless of color. The prison uniforms looked gay as fuck. And then you had to iron the motherfuckers too. The "hurr durr, same color as water" meme is stupid as fuck too. If you fall overboard from a carrier, you are fucked. Even if you are wearing pink and yellow. The camo patterns do hide stains. I like the new idea of just making them wear blue flightsuits underway instead. IDK about the green uniform though.

HC is cool because if you are not limited to Navy commands. On top of becoming a SEAL, you are opened up for muhrine conventional and SOF units too. And if you can't do that you at least have EXW or seabee shit too, plus a good technical skill set. Just be prepared to progress past E-5 for a very long time.
