Yo /k/,
I need a bolt action rifle for a film I'm making. The requirements are a scope, functional "bolt action" (not sure if that's the right term), and that it seems like its from WWII but that last one isn't too important -- it just shouldn't look modern, ya know.
And it shouldn't be real. Having an actual firearm on set leads to more problems than their worth with stuff like permits.
What's the best way to get one of these?

get a mosin son
Replica/deactivated firearms aren't too difficult to obtain depending on where you live

a fake one

What side of the conflict is the person using this replica going to be on?

Fuck off, no guns

Are you making this file outside the US?
Just checking because within the US it would be easier to use a real bolt action. There are no major restrictions on that firearm class--even commieforina

Im in Chicago. Lots of guns here but i dont know about replicas.

Its a fictional conflict but its supposed to be in an time similar to the 1940's/1950's, specifically drawing from the Battle of Algiers.

Wow really? I'll look into the regulations for where I'm planning to shoot. I just assumed if it was a real gun it'd be an instant no.

Just paint the tip black and you'll be good to go.
Also this.

Yeah. Just use a cheap milsurp bolt action rifle and don't allow any ammo on the set. It will look better for the movie, and there's no laws stopping you.

Problem is he lives in chicago, and you need an FOID to buy any rifle or handgun. Going with airshit or a replica will probably be easier and cheaper for him.
