You need to work on your cheeki breeki, cyka.
Blyat work on your stalker skills.
>>
>>31740675
Ignoring the fact that i would propablly irradiate myself, how hard would it be to sneak to zone?
>>
>>31741448
One does not simply sneak into zone, stalker.
Zone sneaks to YOU.
>>
>>31741448
It's a large area so perimeter gaps are there

Enter at your own risk though anon, you might walk into an unmarked radioactive zone fairly easily, they put up signs to protect you not to disallow fun

But hey if you're itching for a nuclear suntan knock yourself out
>>
Pretty fucking authentic place for a S.T.A.L.K.E.R challenge though.

Get a tour guide and tell them you want to do a challenge laid out by some strangers on a Latvian Woodburning forum

Is not radiation

Is spice of life

Now put heels on ground cyka
>>
the farther from the destroyed plant, the less radiation. unless you're very close, there shouldn't be any serious problems. sneak in for maximum stalker experience, buy a geiger counter (could actually prove useful), and a gas mask (probably won't do anything but give you cancer, but it looks cool). wear heavy, thick clothing to protect from radiation and cold.
>>
>>31742865

There are some hotspots still, if you remember Clear Sky's red forest, it soaked up too much radiation and is still lethal today if you're unlucky and end up in a very contaminated spot.

I also distinctively remember that a friend of mine who went there had his guide advise against visiting the hospital for the same reason
>>
>>31743055
that's where the geiger counter and doing research comes in. obviously if you want to be completely safe, don't go to chernobyl.
>>
>>31743055
The basement of the hospital has all the firemens protective gear, all of it is highly contamined

Okay.

1. Find gaps in border then you go in like sneaky man.

2. You bring supplies so you no die and you live, also be sure to bring PDA it good.

3. Bring firearm(s) to protect self against animals and other sneaky dudes.

4. Come to find out most buildings are empty and not filled with goodies, oh no.

5. Your best bet is too hunt down ecologists and tourists and steal their supplies.

6. Find home and make campfire while playing guitar song of your adventures.
>>
When the war started they upped the surveillance and security around the zone.
It's a great risk to try to sneak in, especially now.
>>
>>31743203
Why is it so contaminated?
>>
>>31740675
Stay very drunk the whole time to reduce the amount of radiation absorbed.
>>
>>31745733

Guess what it was used for
>>
>>31745733
The firefighters went right inside the reactor to fight the fires.

>>
>>31743299
All cancer is cellular cancer.
>>
>>31746057
My guess is that she's some kind of professional, which has earned her the access to all those places. Normal visitors are never let on top of the buildings, deep basements, and in the reactor rooms/labs.

My other guess is that she's just crazy about shit like that and has shitloads of money so she paid herself to get it.

OP I was just there last month. Want to PM for details??

I saw essentially everything in the zone worth seeing and I stayed the night in Chernobyl town. Even got a chance to get inside the power plant and tour reactor 3. I highly recommend going to see it and do it quick before the government shuts it all off.

I should also add I can answer any questions you might have about danger, supplies, what you are allowed to do, etc. And also give you ideas of what else to do in UA as it is a bomb ass country to visit.

There's so much info it'll take forever. Here's the quick run down. After reactor 4 exploded in 86, the other 3 reactors continued to operate until the early 2000s (I think 2005). People still work there as scientists, plant workers, and construction workers. About a few thousand overall, across rotating shifts. The new sarcophagus is in its final phases of completion and is on rails to be carted over the old reactor and sealed. The problem is, they still need to clean up the old shit and store it somewhere safe so more radiactive material doesn't escape. They have no idea how to do this, as robots fry and people can only work for about 1-2 minutes in that concentration of radiation, so currently they understand they are fucked and just have their fingers crossed that new tech will help them do it. As for radiation levels at the plant, everything normal inside and only a slight uptick directly outside the sarcophagus. Workers can work up to 20 hours before it is unsafe.

What else do you want to know? I saw DUGA, Pripyat, some other outlying places. Currently law is that no one is permitted in zone without proper papers which certain companies can provide. I can explain more about laws and regulations if you wish.
>>
>>31747438
The equipment and supplies. Do they provide or do your buy/rent

You don't need anything. Just make sure to wear good boots, bring a backpack with food, water, and toiletries, and wear pants and long sleeve shirts. If you spend the night or multiple nights, it's important to have toiletries because the lodge doesn't provide barely anything, though it is clean and well maintained. Also, note that you will go through 2 contamination checks on your way out, so do not go fuffing around in the bush. Just do as the guide says and all will be good. My tour was pretty lenient, so we got go inside buildings and see a lot. The hospital basement has officially been sealed off because tourists were going down and playing in highly radioactive gear. Fortunately, a scrap of a fire suit remains upstairs and will prove how badly they were contaminated. Also, if you want a Geiger counter it is about 260 hryvnia a day, or 10$. Not necessary as it is obnoxious when it goes off and the guide should have one.

OP here, awesome pictures man. Abandoned places that have USSR architecture really resonate with me. Only questions I had was about the tour guide company you used, am thinking of going with solo-east as I hear they are very professional, who did you go with? Also how would I be able to PM you lel?
>>
>>31748987
My email is in the post above yours. Solo East is extremely professional and easy to work with. They also reply very quickly to any questuons. I also went on a weapons tour through them and they contracted out to another guide since the original got tied up. This dude was awesome, took me to the range, hooked me up with the military guys there to try their new rifle, and then we went and toured the big military museum in Kyiv. Very good time. So email me and I can send you materials and things you may need or find helpful. Are you serious about going to Ukraine?? I suggest make some penpal that may be able to meet you, AND FOR FUCKS SAKE LEARN SOME UKRAINIAN. English will not get you far there at all and people will treat you a bit shitty. Otherwise it's a wonderful country with so much to offer.
>>
>>31740675
Drink vodka/alcohol of your preference. It gives a resistance to radiation from what I've heard

Is there a way I could get these papers and tour it myself without a guide? Should I feel suicidal enough to really want to do it alone or with my own group of course, I realize it is probably a stupid idea to go all S.T.A.L.K.E.R on it. But just to see if it is feasible.
>>
>>31745733

Srsly?
>>
Question, where does the S.T.A.L.K.E.R challenge originate? If I break into the zone through holes in the perimeter and I get caught with my gasmask, green suit, and several pieces of decorative glass on my belt will I immediately be considered " another of those S.T.A.L.K.E.R asshats?

Just curious really
>>
>>31749898
I mean, you could theoretically sneak in fairly easily and sometimes people do, however, the military trains there and police run patrols or escort scientists and gov. officials, so someone would be bound to come upon you and fuck you up. That's not even getting into drunk Russians that's come back in May who would probably kill you if they found you. Anyway, you need to go through a tour group which is good because the zone is large and youll need a vehicle and someone that's knows where they are going in there. You don't just walk in and everything is there. It's all spread over 20 sq miles or so. I was able to go through all the buildings I wanted to see and explore everything pretty thoroughly, so I really see no reason not to go through the tour company. Igor was a great guide and very knowledgeable, and he was just callous enough that he didn't give a shit about us exploring. Anyway OP, just email cause I'm heading to bed now, but I'll be back tomorrow to see if the thread is still around if any stragglers want info.
