Were Mosin-Nagants available in the US during the 90's, or did they not start coming in until later?
>>31733140
yes but why bother with a mosin for $30 when a sks was like $100
>>31733140
They've been available, in one capacity or another, since the 20s.
>>31733140
They existed, but not in the numbers of 2000-2012. I recall a lot of them coming from Romania and some from China. The Chinese rifles were probably imported in the 1980s, but I don't know for sure.
>>31733140
The first big wave of Mosins came in the 1950s, with the Finns selling off a bunch of older rifles that weren't being kept for spare parts. Then in the 1960s it was Spain, selling off a bunch of shit sold to the defeated Republican Government by the Soviet Union. The floodgates really opened in the post-1986 FOPA with the former Soviet satellites selling all the old junk the Russians had given them and forgot about when Soviet Union collapsed. Finland also began to surplus basically all their Mosins at about this time. China sold a bunch of shit they had, but they've been slapped with progressively more restrictive import bans.
>>31733169
Chinese Mosin rifles (and a lot of Russian ones too) have also come from Albania as recently as the 2010s.
>>31733360
>$9.95
holy shit
>>31733515
About 80 bucks in 2016 dollars.
>>31733515
Just checked price comparison tables and thats the same as $100 today, not to much difference in cost, those SVT40's though....
>>31733155
FBPB
Back in those days though when this were plentiful I remember
>$60 a case for chink surplus 7.62x39
>$90 a case of 5.56
Hell making pipe bombs was just shit you did with your buddies. Then that ted kascinsky asshole went and fucked it up for everyone. Once 80-100 dollar SKS's dried up the Mosins in became the next best thing for pennyless no guns
>>31733360
>$29.95 Mausers
>>31733758
Adjusted for inflation, it's actually not the cheapest they've ever been.
>>31733166
This. The first commonly available nuggets for Americans would be Bannerman imports or Remington made Mosins.
>>31734075
>Bannerman imports
The Bannerman rifles never left the USA; they had been used by the US Army for training purposes during WW1 and later.
>>31733791
Those Ishapore rifles. For only $150 in today's money. I can't even.
>>31734145
>Americans with Russian guns
Now I've seen everything
>>31734167
You haven't seen Americans shooting Russians with Russian guns yet, have you?
>>31734167
Americans using surplus Russian contract rifles that have a Russian magazine system and a Belgian everything else.
>>31734167
>Now I've seen everything
I bet this one will blow your mind.
>>31734167
Uhh.. you know the Russian Empire bought weapons from America since the U.S. arms industry exist?
>>31734196
Wasn't the interrupter the only part that Nagant contributed?
>>31734197
FDR? What's the thing on the side of the rifle?
Are remington mosins in the remshit bucket?
>>31734292
>Wasn't the interrupter the only part that Nagant contributed?
Yes.
>FDR?
Yes.
>What's the thing on the side of the rifle?
Flaw in the photograph.
>>31733140
The Mosin has a nice knob for grasping the rear of the bolt
Yet the safety is so difficult to engage, how is that even possible
Are mosins actually good? I thought they were just cheap meme rifles /k/ tells people to buy. Kind of like how /o/ tells everyone to buy honda civics.
>>31734340
Because you're working against the mainspring without the mechanical advantage of the lever and inclined plane of the bolt body.
>>31734346
They're not bad, but they're not great
But they work
>>31734346
they were cost effective
they arent anymore
>>31734152
>mfw
>>31734346
IF they were made today, they'd be 1000 dollar rifles.
They have a bad reputation because of both cheapness and being wore the fuck out from 80+ years of use. But also lumping all mosins together is retarded, a fin mosin is a very excelent rifle, same with a Remington made one, or even hex receiver prewar rifles.
also, anyone who takes "meme gun" as serious advice is dumber than a box of lesbian rocks.
>>31734197
A commie with a commie rifle....who would have imagined.
>>31734340
Pull with your arm, not your hand. It's much easier.
>>31734346
Fine rifles, perfectly serviceable.

>>31733360
35 dollars for a 7.62 m95. Thats the one I want/
>>31734297
It wasn't remshit back then.
I don't know, but in the 90s they used to sell them in barrels. Like, here's a barrel stocked with a dozen nuggets, each for $40 - $60 depending on quality. All covered in cosmoline. Some had the stamp showing they were used in combat.
>>31735503
Didn't matter; it's what they got.
