What is needed for self-defense is a weapon that can kill with the quickest or with fewest shots possible.

Most people cant shoot a semi-auto faster than ~200rpm unless your a competition shooter. This can be problematic when your using a weak round like 5.7 which requires 10-15 rounds to incapacitate someone. The P90 was designed to be used as a full auto gun, it's useless in semi auto. This also goes for all sub guns, the reason SMGs are useful is because what they lack in caliber, they gain is controllable full auto fire.

7.62x51 is unnecessary for HD if the nog is <20 feet away from you, especially with heavy recoil (comparitively). 9x19mm is more suitable for HD because it hits hard, has very low recoil (in a carbine of course), is usually a smaller gun, and is less likely to kill your neighbor's cat

No. If you have PS90 SBR money, you should just buy a nice AR-15 and SBR it.

5.7 really is pretty weak and reports from field agents who have shot people with it are not encouraging (shooting victims being shot dozens of times and begging for them to just take a kill shot). You don't want to rely on follow up shots (also has a really heavy trigger) when you could just buy a rifle that will get the job done in 1-2 shots.

Bullpup rifles, and the PS90 in particular, are not easy to clear malfunctions with, and when the PS90 does get a jam, it's frequently the kind where the bullet gets pushed back into the case, sometimes spilling powder all over the action.

I owned one for a while and I just did not feel comfortable with the caliber's usefulness for self-defense. Another complaint was that if you put a red dot on it and zeroed at some given standard distance (I zeroed at 50 yds), then everything you shoot at closer distances will have a POI that's around 6-10 inches below your point of aim. This is especially annoying when plinking, since EVERYTHING you're shooting at is generally going to be closer than the distance you zeroed the rifle and you have to compensate the aim of every single shot. I had the same experience with the standard optic rail as well as an aftermarket low profile optic mount on the PS90, but I never experienced that sort of POA/POI discrepancy at close ranges with an AR-15, even using lower 1/3 cowitness mounts, which aren't that much lower than the low profile optic mount I got for the PS90. It was just frustrating to plink with and I ended up selling it.
